My Borrowed Love Interest. Care to Read?

"My Borrowed Love Interest"

(aka: Granddaughters sleepover)

Tippy-toeing to the doorway

taking a peek to see if they're asleep

blond hair shuffled all over her head

mouth parted open, deep in dreams

older girl still playing, making

shadow puppets on the wall

God's blessed me with these little ones

that I'm allowed to share for awhile

with parents rushed for time

so, for this one weekend night

I can pretend they're truly mine

Pancakes for breakfast with strawberry

topping and syrup-ed up for consumption

barefoot noises say they're coming down

all giggles and full of gumption

I've been blessed, oh did I say that already?

I guess I can't say it enough

those crazy boys who played so hard

brought me girls to fill my heart

That is astoundingly beautiful, Shirley, ya used to hide that talent of yours, remember? I am glad you let us in...

Yowee Shirley was first thinkin other but then I read on.

I admit however I enjoyed the thought of borrowed.

OK no boys really, but dreaming, giggling in the jama sleep over, I love it, and have been there.

    This was absolutely lovely

    First sleep over, flashlights

    scary fright into ghostly nights

    finally exhausted the OMG gossip

    falling into slumbers slip

    not so encumbered

    but entwined

    limbs in their diviine

momma came in, brushed back some hair

    sat in a chair

    vigil kept as we slept

    night crept

    to dawn

    Youthful fawns

    soon to end the dreaming

    screaming

    running to the fragrance

    assumed deliverance

    clamoring, chattering, as children will

    Blueberry pancakes the new thrill.

Ah shirley, what touched me most is the contrast between raisin' boys who gifted you with li'l girls. Let me share an even bigger contrast...never my own children, though now with two grown steps...one of each...whom I love as my own...but they've a dad too...divorced, not deceased. So there's just a wee line of demarcation still evident and, although it hardly hurts, it does pester emotionally now 'n' again...just generally...nothin' they do!

BUT...these four grands...two of each...they're as much mine as anyone's...and baybay do I let 'em know it! They live so far away...us in CT, they in Indiana...but we see them as often as possible with reciprocal visits and...PRASIE GOD...they ARE SUCH A GIFT! T'anks for sharin' love... :)

    Heart-tugging...heart-warming...

What a delightful look into what seems a very happy family.

Thank you for sharing, although from your title I thought you

might have been referring to Neonman...lol
