Is Mormonism A Theistic Cult?

Is it even Christian?

The Christian Christ - The Mormon Christ:

Eternally God - Not Always God, but Became A God

Only God - One of Many Gods

Creator of All Things - Was Created; Spirit Brother of Lucifer

Begotten Miraculously of the Holy Spirit - Begotten Sexually, by God the Father

Not Married - Married with Children

Redeemed Us from Sin by Death on the Cross - Atoned by Sweating Blood in Gethsemane

Justifies the Ungodly- Requires Godliness before Justification

Offers Full Salvation Unconditionally by Grace - Offers Full Salvation Only on Conditions

Update:

@ashley s - Mormonism teaches another Christ exactly as listed above. All this Information can be found at lds.org.

Update 2:

@ Zootal - Off the lds.org

What Is Our Doctrine? by Robert L. Millet 1986

Speaking of the "hard teachings" I posted above:

(page 20)"we are challenged regularly for statements in our literature on such matters as (these)".

warning (page16) to teach only from the scriptures (the Bible) because the Prophet Joseph Smith, Brigham Young - Prophets and Church leaders - made mistakes, and believed doctrains do change in an ever-changing Church (page 16)

http://tinyurl.com/3mluz98

Unless you read your history, you don't know what the Mormon church teaches because what was once believed and taught by the prophets, changes with every (new) current-day revelation. Their current revelation is to look as much like a true Christian as possible. This might not be a bad thing, because if they stick to the Bible, surely some will receive the unadulterated message of Salvation and be saved. Once they have the truth, they will be lead by the Holy Spirit to leave the false gospel Momonism teaches.

of course the LDS are christian....and there is only one Christ..He is Jesus the Christ, Divine and Only Begotten Son of God, Atoner, Saviour, Mediator, and Messiah. that is who the LDS know.

all this other you "claim" to have gotten from lds.org is not LDS doctrine. really? has lying about others beliefs solved all your other problems?

Your description of Christian beliefs are not all supported by the Bible, and many Christians don't believe what you say they do. And your description of Mormon doctrine is not quit right either.

We don't know if Christ was married or not - many Christian scholars think he may have been, as well as some Mormons, but it is not Mormon doctrine. You are quite wrong when you say that the Mormon Christ was married with children, we believe no such thing.

Mormons do not believe that Christ was "begotten sexually".

I don't even know what you mean by "Requires Godliness before Justification", but it is not Mormon doctrine.

"Offers Full Salvation Only on Conditions". What is full salvation? Christians do not believe that salvation is unconditional. Are unrepentant sinners saved? If so, why bother to repent? Even Christians believe you have to accept Christ - that is a condition for salvation, is it not?

You are misrepresenting Christianity. Christians, Mormon and not, simply do not believe the things you are saying.

And lastly, no, you will not find most of what you saying at lds.org, you will not find it anywhere except at anti-Mormon web sites. Don't let the ex-Mormons and anti-Mormons think for you. Research Mormon doctrine for yourself and find out what Mormons really believe. It is not what you are trying to say.

Mormon is just messed up! They took what is a mens fraternity called the Free Masons and converted that into a cult religion that is based on wearing jesus jammies and getting a large percentage of your paycheck from you each month so they can build more "churches" Not cool. Then they send around boys to do their dirty work and try and brainwash you. I am sure some jerk0ff will delete this post because the truth hurts their feelings and they don't have a defense for it but that is ok. No thanks. I would rather become a satanic cult worshiper than join the momo's! Rock on! Oh, and i love answer # 11. Way to go genius. I guess you have been brainwashed by the "church of lsd" And FYI, I am no ex momo or whatever you try to blame on that. And no kidding you wont find stuff that goes against your brainwashing on your own website? That is incredible. Dumb@$$

I don't know where you got this information, nor if it describes Fundamentalist Mormons.

I do know however that none of this describes the Mormon Christian (or members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints)

We believe in the same Christ as other Christians, as in God the Father and the Holy Ghost. He died for our sins. We do not claim to worship anyone other than God (the Only God) and Jesus Christ (for whom our church is named and created).

Source(s): The Book of Mormon, The Bible, Mormon.org, LDS.org, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

No. They believe there are untold numbers of exalted mormons that became gods. Mormonism gets around, you see. It's more a polytheistic religion. Hinduism is polytheistic, a similar religion to mormonism.

Christianity, whatever you may think of it as, is a completely theistic religion. One God, three parts. Mormonism is a god for many wives.....

Mormons believe in the same god and jesus christ that other christians do, but they have a different perspective on how it all happened. "How" is the least important question we need to ask when it comes to religion, and should rather ask "why".

Mormonism is a cult, that's for sure. They preach a different Jesus as well as a different gospel. They also hold uninspired extra-biblical writing from Smith, Young and others on a par with God's inspired word, the Bible. Where there's a conflict, they hold the uninspired writings of men as the standard and not God's inspired word.

Religion, in general, is a cult.

(dictionary. com) Cult - A system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.

All churches are cults. They just stopped calling them that when Christianity went mainstream.
