What Is This Symbol Used For?
I was just wondering, what's the ( ~ ) symbol on a keyboard used for? The only times I've seen it used is in texting to show that a sound is carried, like "kyaa~!" What's the symbol's original purpose? Is it some mathematical symbol, or what?

The tilde has many purposes, ranging from a mathematical contexts (~ in math means equivalence), logical context (~p means NOT p), English (~ means roughly, approximately, i.e. ~10 yards to your left), as well as many other uses in other languages. it can be used as an accent in spainish or as a mathematical symbol to mean approxamitely

the purpose of this symbol must be to make people ask questions about it, and since this question has been asked many,many,many times it seems as though it is doing its job very effectively!!!!
