What you prefer the Hi-Point C-9 or Jimenez JA Nine?

IF YOU ANSWER IS "BOTH ARE JUNK GET A GLOCK" YOU WILL BE THUMBED DOWN AND REPORTED!

I would prefer to hear from people who own both, I know there are a lot of C9 owners out there. I would love to hear from a JA Nine owner. Only if your gun is Jimenez NOT Jennings.

I'm leaning towards the Jimenez. It's more visually appealing, feels better, and has a bigger magazine capacity. What I hear with Jennings/Bryco is your chance of getting a good gun is 50/50. This is with the OLD owner. I hear Jimenez makes decent pistols and has a life time warranty [If they stay in business]. Hi-Points can take a beating but I don't like the way the look and they don't feel as good as the JA Nine. Hi-Point has a life time warranty also. Hi Point seems like if I returned my gun for factory service I would actually get it back. With the BS the ATF comes up with the "Ring of Fire" I would be worried about getting my gun back at all.

So JA Nine or C9?

I would not recommend either for self defense.

They will both perform ok for target practice, plinking, emergency back up or to have to give to someone you are with during civil unrest/zombie apocalypse.

I have fired a lot of both and have owned a Jimenez.

The Jimenez I owned used to feed jam all the time, even with ball ammo.

We have a nickname for the Hi-Point C-9 at our station, it is called "the brick".

The brick/Hi-point is a more dependable gun. There are actually entire web sites dedicated to modifying the Hi-Point to make it more dependable and more accurate. I have had Hi-Points fail to feed, but only on the first round.

If given the choice of a Jimenez or a Hi-Point, I would choose the Hi-Point.

It is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it. Even if that gun is not a $3,000 Wilson Combat or an Ed Brown,

I have the C9. the Jimenez Arms guns are banned in California (where I am)

The C9 is practically indestructible and its very reliable. I haven't had any failures yet. There is an issue with my Hi Point that I don't know if that's same for other Hi Points. the bore is a bit oversized, it doesn't work well with most 9mm rounds. land to land its 0.356, groove to groove its 0.358. but i shoot mostly my own reloads, its not a big deal, i just need to change bullet diameters.

complaints about how the C9 looks is common, you cna polish the slide so its shiny as if its chromed/stainless/nickel plated, and there are very nice wood grips for it, there's a guy that makes them on request at hi point firearms forums.

if you feel confident in your gunsmithing abilities, you could buy a Jimenez 9, if it broke and you can't get it to the factory you could fix it yourself. the Hi Point on the other hand, you cna fix it yourself or sent it to the factory. they'll fix it and often even comp postage with free magazines.

Source(s): i do have a phoenix arms 22, works really well if you take out that stupid feature requiring the magazine to be inserted to cycle action/shoot. that's just a stupid thing required for California sales. its not Phoenix's fault CA has retarded gun laws.

I own a JA Nine, I must say they are a problem when you first get them and breaking them in seems like forever with tons of jamming and breach problems. I have cleaned on mine and fixed it up as much as possible and I still see no hope. I am going to have to refer the Hi-Point, They might be ugly but they work and they are effective. JA Nine, I will never own another.

For what they are, and if you collect cheapies like I do, they are magnificant examples of high end saturday night specials, riveled only by Ravins (which I like too) ! The C9 has a better trigger by far (but you can tweak the HiP to be almost as good). The sight picture of hte Jamenez is superior BUT the High Point has better handling properties. The High Point appears more sturdy (and for aluminum/copper/zinc) that's a plus in the right direction. But I like both and urge folks to get both just to show your grand kids how cheap grandaddy was/is !

  • i choose the ja9. while i have owned and say hi point is a darn decent gun, every one i have had jammed a bit. it only came with 1 8 round mag. my ja 9 came with 2 12 round mags, and after a couple jams with the first 2 mags and a good cleaning, it works flawlessly with standard 115 gr ball and hornady critical defense. the one notable advantage of the hi point is that its plus p rated and i have fired nato surplus through a hi point and it would tear through anything. i was told nato surplus is a little hotter than standard ball but just short of being rated +p at this point in time id be a bit weary of firing it through my ja9

Any of the Ring of Fire guns are dangerous to shoot. At least the Hi-Point probably won't rapidly self disassemble and kill you or take an eye out or blow your hand or fingers off.
