How long are the auroras supposed to stay far south?
I was reading that on Monday auroras were pushed far down into lower altitudes. I was wondering if this would continue for about a week, or if it was a one time thing. I missed out on this rare chance and was wondering if I would get a second try. I live in Kansas.

Well, ..., no. If you didn't see them last night then It's pretty much over. Don't worry though, you'll get another chance. Just keep watching www.spaceweather.com for the next powerful CME to strike Earth's magnetic field.

Such southern incursions are very rare. This aurora only seems to have lasted for a short time. After reading about it online, I looked twice for it from my very dark location, and saw nothing, though my sky was mostly cloudy. With aurora, "you snooze, you lose." Many displays last only a few minutes.
