Conservatives: Do You Agree With George Will About Romney?

"Romney, supposedly the Republican most electable next November, is a recidivist reviser of his principles who is not only becoming less electable, he might damage GOP chances of capturing the Senate: Republican successes down the ticket will depend on the energies of the tea party and other conservatives, who will be deflated by a nominee whose blurry profile in caution communicates only calculated trimming. Republicans may have found their Michael Dukakis, a technocratic Massachusetts governor who takes his bearings from ‘data’ ... Has conservatism come so far, surmounting so many obstacles, to settle, at a moment of economic crisis, for THIS?"

I don't know who George Will is, but he is probably right. I'd advise anyone to dump Romney. He wouldn't help the US except to replace Obama which is absolutely essential. He's be better than Obama, but no better than the other GOP candidates in my opinion. I favor Santorum, Bachmann or Perry. Will vote for the one that is most likely to win over Obama.

people into politics follow daily tracking polls. it's non sense. i feel that Romney will get the nomination and is the neo-cons best bet to whip the o-man. however, what Will sez is correct. Romney is not the be all, end all for cons. there will be a ton of disinterest or clamoring for a third party run on the far right side. maybe it will be Paul, or one of these others. Palin might want to sell more books or something. i like Newt Gingrich. he has won every debate and is a political genius.

any how, i'm already calling four more years of the o-man. the cons are all over the place and a lot of us simply arent going to vote for that "slickster" from massachusettes. other than perry or bachman, i'll vote for the repo nominee. i just dont know that my other neo con friends feel that way. conservative movement is so fractured right now, it's hard to see us defeating the o-man machine.

Romney is very much like Dukakis but probably the most electable of all the cons. Will's argument that Romney might cost Cons the Senate is ridiculous its some of kind of early scapegoating.

  • Unless Mitt dons a helmet and gets his photograph taken in a tank, there is no way that he'll come across as an idiot of the Dukakis caliber. Dukakis looked like a deranged Beetle Baily.

I believe it will almost have to be an conservative candidate if America is to be rescued from Obamanomics. I don't dislike Mitt Romney, but I worry about how much he might compromise in order to be elected.

We have to definitely defeat Obama, but also be prepared to defeat Hillary, should Obama decide to sit this one out.

Absolutely. Ron Paul and Herman Cain are far better, far more principled choices.
