What do you think of TX High School Students Made to Recite Mexican National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance?

Students in a Texas public high school were made to stand up and recite the Mexican national anthem and Mexican pledge of allegiance as part of a Spanish class assignment, but the school district maintains there was nothing wrong with the lesson.

It happened last month in an intermediate Spanish class at Achieve Early College High School in McAllen, Texas — a city located about 10 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Wearing red, white and green, students had to memorize the Mexican anthem and pledge and stand up and recite them in individually in front of the class.

That didn’t go over well with sophomore Brenda Brinsdon. The 15-year-old sat down and refused to participate. She also caught it all on video:“I just thought it was out of hand, I didn’t think it was right,” she told The Blaze. “Reciting pledges to Mexico and being loyal to it has nothing to do with learning Spanish.”

She said she was particularly offended because the presentations in teacher Reyna Santos’s class took place during “Freedom Week,” the week after the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and on U.S. Constitution Day — the same day as Mexico’s Independence Day.

“Why are we doing their independence when it‘s Freedom Week and it’s also Constitution Day?” Brinsdon said.

Brinsdon said she complained to the school principal, Yvette Cavazo, who told her it was part of the curriculum and that she should participate. Her father, William, also got involved, calling the school district superintendent to complain.

If you view the video, notice that the arm position used in the Mexican flag salute is practically identical with that of a Nazi salute. From 1892 to 1942, the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance was performed in a similar manner, but it was changed so as not to look like a Nazi salute. In fact, the Bellamy salute, the so-called Roman salute and the Nazi salute all look about the same.Any public figure who raises his arm above the shoulder can be photographed to look like he’s giving a Nazi salute. However, the MSM only plays it up if Republicans appear to be doing it. So I guess it’s a non-issue here. Here’s the English translation :

"Flag of Mexico!

Legacy of our heroes,

symbol of the unity

of our parents and our brothers.

We promise to always be loyal

to the principles of liberty and justice

that make our fatherland

the independent nation, humane and generous

to which one we give our existence."

So yes, the person taking this oath is, if sincere, pledging allegiance to Mexico.

As for national anthems, they are worthy objects of study in a foreign language class.

But Mexico is not the only Spanish-speaking country. Certainly, Spanish-language teachers who play national anthems in class shouldn’t neglect La Marcha Real, of the Reino de España (the Kingdom of Spain), said to be one of the world’s oldest national anthems.

And hey, there are 18 Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America! So if a Spanish-language teacher’s goal is cultural exposure and not Mexican political indoctrination, how about reserving a Friday Spanish class for a national anthem listening day? I mean, if you’re going to listen to national anthems, do it up right!

I find it disgusting and this teacher should be fired on the spot!! Thankfully even this 15 year old knew it was wrong. One thing I warned my children's spanish teacher of was she better teach spanish and not about illegal aliens, they should not be a topic in a language class. It is not part of any curriculum! And if they learn about any country, it should be Spain since that is where it originated!!! Thanks, will be sending a message to this school about it.

If you view the video linked, the arm position used in the Mexican flag salute is identical with that of a Nazi salute. From 1892 to 1942, the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance was often performed in the same way, but it was changed so that people would forget that the Pledge of Allegiance was the origin of the Nazi salute. In fact, the Bellamy salute was the origin of the Nazi salute and of the so-called "ancient Roman salute" myth (a debunked myth). However, the media never plays up the truth about the Pledge of Allegiance and its putrid past.

The Mexican pledge continues to be performed with the USA's early salute which was the Nazi salute, the origin of the salute of the National Socialist German Workers Party.

It would be more appropriate if the USA pledge were performed with its early Nazi salute, as it would help everyone understand the purpose and history.

Edward Bellamy and Francis Bellamy (author of the Pledge) touted military socialism and national socialism and their dogma was the origin of the Nazi salute when Francis Bellamy began the Pledge of Allegiance with the military salute that was then extended outward to point at the flag. They influenced the National Socialist German Workers Party, its rituals (robotic chanting to flags & leaders), dogma, and symbols (including the use of the swastika to represent overlapping S-letters for "socialism" under German national socialism. The above are some of the discoveries in the the work of the noted historian Dr. Rex Curry.

American socialists, including the Bellamys, influenced Stalin, Mao and Hitler (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the Peoples Republic of China, and the National Socialist German Workers Party), the worst mass murderers of all time.

Pledges of Allegiance should NOT be chanted in Spanish or English (especially NOT the USA's pledge) - Pledges of Allegiance should ONLY be chanted in German, Russian or Chinese. Stop the USA's pledge of Allegiance.

I fully agree with that 15 yr old girl. The spanish teacher was in the wrong. There was NO reason to make the kids do that and since there is no reason, it's clear that the teacher had an agenda. This is the US, not Mexico, and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to Mexico, or any other country, other than the US in this nation is very wrong, serious or not. There are many in that part of the US that are very much into trying to "retake" the part of the US that the Mexican people claim was stolen from them at the end of the Mexican/American war, and this is just another way of trying to make it happen.

Seeing as how this was an intermediate class, I can understand. It would not seem right to sing national anthem of Spain or other hispanic country.

I don't buy into that if you recite this you are are pledging loyalty to Mexico

If I were the teacher, I would give students who do not want to recite another option of participating.

How about if the students who do not want to pledge could do a report on Mexico or other hispanic country.

TBH, if I were a student at that school. i would have no problem reciting that pledge because I would know that it is only done for purpose of school assignment, nothing like getting me to recite that over the pledge over the pledge of allegiance.

This whole thing sounds similar to students who might have a problem with dissecting frogs.

Bu yet there is an alternative for students to participate.

Forcing someone to recite another country's pledge of allegiance is like forcing someone to recite a prayer from another religion. I would not even force a US citizen to recite the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. You cannot compel loyalty. Bravo to the girl for showing critical thinking skills and bravo to her dad for defending his daughter in the right way by expressing concern to the superintendent.

It's proof that mexicans are not willing to assimilate. That's what it is.

Cut off ALL immigration, legal and illegal, and let the established population assimilate.

Once we have an established, and assimiliated population, then open the doors and let people come back in.
