I think most Christians misunderstand their own God... certainly, someone gave you an interesting impression of him. According to Catholic teachings, God never sends anyone to Hell. God doesn't want people to go to hell, not even "evil" people... He wants all his beloved people with him and is, indeed, unconditional. It is not the action of God that sends "sinners" to hell... Sinners (according to the teachings) reject God and willingly take THEMSELVES to hell with their own free will, despite the efforts of God to save them. It's because God gave us free will and some use that free will to reject God (by persisting in sinful behavior) that they end up in hell. This depiction of God is infinatly forgiving and displaying of unconditional love. Some Christians have never heard of this depiction of God however, and cling to notions of a God that sends people to a firey furnace for displeasing him. Whatever makes them happy, I guess.

Personally, I like that Catholic teaching, but I have issues with other Christian teachings and so am not Christian myself.

God's love is not unconditional and hell is not eternal.

  • Not all Christians believe the "screw up and go to hell" concept. I completely expect to see atheists that did good in this world in heaven. You may have to give an apology about the sky wizard and FSM jokes, that's about it

    Xians live in FEAR...

W C Easttom: God says, do what you wish, but make the wrong choice and you will be tortured for eternity in hell.

That sir, is not free will.

It would be akin to a man telling his girlfriend, do what you wish, but if you choose to leave me, I will track you down and blow your brains out.

When a man says this we call him a psychopath and cry out for his gaoling or death.

When god says the same we call him 'loving' and build churches in his honour.

There's no biblical reference to unconditional love. That's something christians make up to make the product sale.

they'll say that it's not a condition but a truth...you have to accept jesus as the one ultimate truth....

which is still non sense because it's still a condition

i never liked the idea that it is JESUS/god who forgives peoples sins

as though he is the only person who has been wronged by them, dont the people who are the victims of others sins get a say as to whether or not they are forgiven? just so stupid.

  • GOD LOVES YOU UNCONDITIONALLY but man is bounded by his own deeds which he do either wrong or right. it is these works that you do which decides your future. god wants you to believe in him and then get the ultimate power to get over the rule and live like god. but when we dont believe in him we often do such work that let us to hell.
