Upgrading glock front sights?

I have an old glock 17 that I want to upgrade the sights on. I'm inclined to just do the front sight.

Does anybody have a suggestion of a good front sight that won't cost me $90 like a trueglo set?

Also, is the install easy or should I just take it to a gun smith?

Get a full set of Meprolight sights. I have them on my G22 and I prefer them to the Tru-Glo's on my 1911. I agree with the 1st answer about spending a little more and getting the complete set.

If you shop around you should be able to get a full set of night sights from some places for well under $100.

However if you are set on only replacing the front sights check out brownells.com for a variety of options.

Here is a set of Trijicon's for $89 delivered.

Installation is fairly straight forward and easy. For some night sight or steel replacement sights you will need a 3/16" hex socket.

While more money than you want to spend look at the Heinie Straight 8 night sights. Once my current use Meprolight's or Trijicon's go dim for good I will be going to these.

Go ahead and spend the money and get a full set (front and rear) of Trijicon or Trueglo or something. Normal iron sights can be whacked in and out with a brass punch and hammer.. a real no-no with tritium and fiber sights. They should be installed using the appropriate tools (a sight adjustment tool or press).

It's not overly difficult to do yourself. You can find instructions online
