How to resquare a metal door and frame?
I have a metal security door and frame that has come out of square. The top of the door is rubbing against the top of the frame, and it is very difficult to push close.
If this was a wood door, I'd probably shave it. I've never dealt with this in a metal door. What's the best way to fix it?
Thank you!
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoGrass or groundcover for high traffic/full shade location in Zone 5?
Hello Green Thumbs,
I am spending this winter making some plans to spruce of the landscape. I need someone to make suggestions on a good grass or groundcover choice. I want something that will be good to walk on.
Basically, I currently have a small dirt lot in a multi-family building that is fully shaded in the summer. We live in zone5, so cold hardiness is important. Due to tenants and pets, fast growing and super durable are important. Judging by the state of my neigbor's lawns, noone has had good luck with a grass, so I'm willing to settle on a groundcover. The other hard factor is that the lot is surrounded by oak trees, which I have heard are toxic to some plants.
So, basically, I need a suggestion of a super plant that can take these conditions. Is there such a thing? I really don't want to go the mulch lawn route.
5 AnswersGarden & Landscape8 years agoMy baseboard heat gets too hot?
Hi,
I have oil fired, baseboard hotwater heat in my house. I have the thermostat set to 68. When I turn it on, it cycles on, heats up to 68, and then I can hear it click off. The problem is the heat keeps rising in the house to about 76-80. Then the heat slowly falls and the thermostat cycles on when it goes down past 68 again. So, its a constant game of bundle up and un bundle in my house.
I think that the actual thermostat is shut off because I can hear it click, and I replaced it first thinking it was the problem. But, its like either there is enough residual heat in the lines to make it uncomfortably hot or the pump keeps running.
Also, the furnace is close to needing replacement. Is this just the sign of a clunker furnace?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoHunting essentials I never think about?
Over the years, I've gotten a pretty good idea of what I need to be prepared. We all know about the 10 essentials, duct tape, and the basics of hunting/camping gear. But, there are things that some people have thought to use/bring that improve safety, success, or convenience that I've never thought about. I'd imagine I have some things that might make your trips better, too.
So, I'd like to know what "essential" piece of gear you bring along, but others don't. Here's mine:
Hunting:
A small square of tarp to keep your butt dry when sitting
a head lamp
For guns/gunsmithing:
A carpet hall runner with rubber backing. This protects the gun and table while preventing things from rolling.
For camping:
a tea kettle is easier and safer for boiling and dispensing water. It also serves double duty when rinsing dishes.
For the car:
a battery booster pack for when the car dies in the woods when you are alone.
A small trashcan to keep the wilderness tidy.
Hose clamps to reattach loose hoses.
1 AnswerHunting9 years agoTruck stalls when put in reverse?
I've been having an intermittent problem with my truck and want some ideas.
Basically, the car will start and idle perfectly in park. Most of the time is drives perfectly. But about once a month or so, I will shift into reverse and the engine will lug really low and die. It usually gives me problems on a cold start. I feel like it happens more when the weather is damp, but don't know for certain. It's never done it to me going into drive.
Ideas or thoughts on how to trouble shoot.

3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoFishing Reelfoot Lake, TN?
I'm thinking of heading that way in mid April. Does anybody have any personal recommendations/tips/outfitter suggestions. It looks like that's a good time to go for the crappie fishing and bluegills.
1 AnswerFishing9 years agoHow to write this applescript?
Hello,
Basically, I want to write an applescript that will do the following actions:
1. Open safari
2. Select private browsing in safari
3. Log onto my yahoo mail account, which is my homepage.
Best answer to the first one who tells me the right script. Thanks
I'm just learning applescript and can't seem to get the language correct.
1 AnswerProgramming & Design9 years agoHas anyone had a hunting dog?
I'm seriously considering getting a hunting breed dog and starting to do NAVHDA training with the end goal of having one dog that will point and retrieve birds, point and retrieve rabbits, and possibly retrieve waterfowl.
I understand the size of this undertaking, and part of my preparation is waiting another year until I have a property with a field so I can keep a flush birds regularly during training. In the mean time, I'm preparing by immersing myself in the readings, attending some NAVHDA events, and asking for personal experience.
So here's my question:
If you've had a gun dog, would you do it again? Basically, I want to know the general consensus on the worthwhileness of having and training a gun dog. Did you buy a puppy and train it into a reliable gun dog or did it just end up being a house pet? Do you find that the dog enhances your hunting experience, frequency, and productivity?
Personal experiences and stories are welcome. We already have dogs, so the keeping a dog as a pet is not a question.
9 AnswersHunting9 years agoI need ideas for fun targets to shoot?
Hi there,
For safety and cleanliness reasons, my shooting area is pretty restrictive on what they allow for targets. Basically, you can shoot paper targets or throw clay pigeons up on the berm and chase around the shards. You are not allowed to shoot metal, anything on the ground, glass or plastic. Basically, nothing with ricochet potential or stuff that will not bio-degrade.
I would like to get or make some interesting moving or reactive targets. Does anybody have ideas. I was thinging of making a frame and hanging wood blocks on string so they swing in the wind. But, I have a feeling I'll always be replacing the wood.
Other thoughts?
Thanks
6 AnswersHunting9 years agoDoes this gun holster and video make anyone else nervous?
Check out this flash bang bra holster and video and tell me if you think its dangerous or I'm just crazy:
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/05/flashbang-b...
1. The device makes me nervous because it has massive muzzle sweep potential and a negligent discharge would likely shoot you in the heart.
2. The video makes me nervous because they have an admittedly complete novice doing fast draws from deep concealment with a loaded gun and already dangerous device. I especially don't like the loaded gun reholster. yikes!
22 AnswersHunting9 years agoWhat's a good MIG welder for me?
I always find myself saying "I wish you could glue metal together" and I've paid someone handsomely for 5 minutes of welding work on several occasions. So, I've decided to teach myself to weld. I've done some research and I'm pretty handy, so I think it will be doable.
I've decided I want a MIG welder. I've also decided it needs to be standard household current because I have no 220 volt power. I want to be able to weld things from sheet metal to galvanized pipes and moderately thick angle iron. I don't envision myself ever needing to weld something heavy like a frame.
So, I have a couple questions. Will a 110 current machine do all the thicknesses I want it to? Do you have a recommendation of a good reliable machine at an affordable price or what should I look for? Finally, what other things will I end up needing like masks, gloves, clamps, metal cutting tools and what type of $ am I looking to invest?
I've read some articles, but I want real world advice about what you'd look for and suggest.
Thanks
11 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoInstalling Williams FireSight Front Sight on Rifle?
Hello,
I am installing a Williams WGRS peep sight set with front fire sights on a newer Marlin 336A. I got the rear sight on and the old front sight out no problems.
I've tapped in the new front sight in flush with the dovetail on the right side (and about as hard as I had the guts to hit it without reconfirming), but it seems like it should be over another 1/8 inch or so to be perfectly centered down the barrel. To move it over that 1/8 inch, it seems like I'd have to file the sight just a hair.
So, my question is what should I do:
1. Leave it how it is and adjust the windage on the rear sight?
2. File the front sight a little bit?
3. Be bold and tap it into place without filing?
4. Something else?

4 AnswersYahoo Answers10 years agocustom meat cutting- how to order my lamb?
Hi all,
I've purchased a whole lamb and had arrangements to get it processed. The processor asked me to fill out how I want it cut up. These are my options:
Legs: whole or split or sliced?_________________________
Shoulder: whole split or sliced
Blade chops? (I think this is shoulder chops...but this may also be rib chops) yes or no?
Loin chops how many per package
stew meat yes no
ground yes no....
All stew and ground are usually 1 lb. packages.
Anyway, this is the first time buying a whole animal, so these are unfamiliar terms. Can somebody please explain the cuts in terms of market cuts. Also, if you have suggestions on how I should order this cut up, that would be great. This is for a couple, so smaller pieces are preferable to huge hunks.
Thanks
2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink10 years agoUpgrading glock front sights?
I have an old glock 17 that I want to upgrade the sights on. I'm inclined to just do the front sight.
Does anybody have a suggestion of a good front sight that won't cost me $90 like a trueglo set?
Also, is the install easy or should I just take it to a gun smith?
4 AnswersHunting10 years agoShould I wait to by a deer rifle?
I am without a deer gun this year as I sold mine to finance another interest (kicking self in butt).
I am looking to get a Marlin 336. They're on sale with a scope for $350.
My other line of thinking is waiting to the end of season to see if I can score a sweet deal on one(under 225) or even a nicer gun.
I don't think I'll get out more than once or twice this year due to time constraints, and I do like to do other things this time of year. So, it wouldn't be a huge hardship to forgo this season.
I guess my question is do you think there will be great private seller deals after the season that are worth waiting for, or should I just buy at a good price now and enjoy?
7 AnswersHunting10 years agoHow has the Marlin 336 changes in 35 years?
I'm looking to buy a Marlin 336 in 30-30 that is about 35 years old an in near new condition.
I'm familiar with the modern one, but I wanted to know how they've changed. What am I getting/not getting with a 35 year old model? Will there be any functional difference?
5 AnswersHunting10 years agodoes firing a 38 out of a 357 cylinder change the ballistics?
If you have two identical guns except one has a 38 cylinder and the the other has a 357 and you fire the same 38 +p ammo, will the ballistics be different?
I ask because I'm probably getting an LCR. With such a small gun, I'll probably be using mostly 38, but it also comes chambered in 357. Is there any reason not to get the 357 for added versatility?
8 AnswersHunting10 years agohow to make New England fried clams?
So, I want to make lobster shack style fried clams. I live in NE, and it is easy to get the steamer clams. I also have a good idea of how to flour and fry them, but, if you have a killer recipe, let me know.
My specific question is about shucking the clams. Once you have opened the clam, do you have to take the skin off the foot like when you steam them? How do you do this when they are raw?
Thanks
