naturalization process...?
So here is the story, my mom is an American citizen she was born in California and so is my grandfather. but after my mother was born my grandparents got divorced and my mom went to live in Mexico when she was 4 years old before starting school in the US or anything else that might prove she stayed in the US for more than a year. I was born September 1983 (age 28) and my brother was born February 1996 (15). So now we both want to claim nationality through my mother or my grandfather, can anyone help me with any advice on how do I start the process please.

It is possible for a foreign-born child of a US citizen who does not meet the residency requirement to naturalize the child as a US citizen if the grandparent was a US citizen who met the residency requirements, but the naturalization must take place while the child is a minor. You are too old to qualify. Your brother might be able to claim US citizenship and eventually petition you for an immigrant visa if he can prove he meets the requirements. Read more here:

Go here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis
Ask: "My parrent is a US citizen but I am not. Can I become a US citizen?"
I think that because you are over 18, you must go through the regular process... and it takes YEARS.
