Do you know how much $15,000,000,000,000 is?

Today the Federal debt will reach $15 Trillion (15 followed by twelve 0s). That's more than $45,000 for every man, woman and child (legal and illegal) in the country.

Look around your dinner table. How much of that does your family owe?

Update:

As several pointed out - That figure is only what we currently owe. Unfunded promises are much larger and not included in the number.

Your figures are correct. I know your secret for figuring that out. Its general math. Look at it like this because it comes to a pretty figure. We are not paying the debt down and as a result the amount owed goes out with interest which isn't even figured in. However since we are spending $1.4 trillion that we have to borrow every year the federal government is borrowing $4545.45 in your name every year and adding it to the federal debt and there you are earning $20K to $50K. For a family of 4 that is $18,181.81 every year. You could be paying cash for a new car with that. On the left you ave people saying go for it keep borrowing.

If Obama has his way, the 15 trillion will be the interest. Actually the figure stands at 72 trillion in unfunded debt, as well as personal debt.

Someone was saying it was $100 bills stacked 7 feet high and covering 11 football fields endzone to endzone, sideline to sideline. An unfathomable amount of money. Think of it this way, an average human lifetime in most developed countries is about 2.5 billion seconds. So someone would have to spend about $6,000 a second from the the moment they are born, their entire life to equal that debt.
