Is there a Core i5/i7 CPU with a LGA 775 socket?
I don't expect there to be, but in case I missed something on Wikipedia and Intel site, please inform me. If there's a i5/i7 (for desktop) that fits into a LGA 775 socket of the motherboard, that'd save me a bit of hassle and money (so that I don't have to change mobo). It also has to be a 4-core CPU and not 2-core. Thanks in advance.

@n/a: I wanted to just confirm if I MISSED something on Intel's site or not.
Anyway, okay, I give up -__-;
And i3 ain't gonna cut it, I want my PC to be current for next 4 years at least, so I'd like to start with at least i5 if not i7. OK, OK, time to shell out the dough I guess...

No.
How about getting an i3 2120, mainboard, 80 plus certified powersupply, and hd 6850 video card? Even an athlon 2 x3 with a high frequency would be a good basis for a reasonable gaming-computer.

The only thing that will swap over from an LGA775 to a LGA1155 is the heatsink... I am using a factory q9550 heatsink on my 2400 i5, and it cools decently at 60C-70C load in Metro2033... A q9550 is about the best price vs. performance you can get for a LGA775 motherboard, but that is only if you have a P45 or x38 or x48, or say a 680i, 780i or 790i chipset, that will overclock the q9550 to 3.6Ghz... None of the new motherboards being built today, such as the G41 is going to overclock it much at all... You will have to shop ebay and find a deal on a q9550 to keep your cost down, most people still want $250 for that processor, and that is really too high for what you can build a LGA 1155 for...

Of course not. Even if you could make an i5/i7 with a 775 form factor, it wouldn't compatible with a single 775 chipset.

And why would you think they would still make anything for a old socket 4 generations behind?
