What CPU is better, AMD or Intel?

My friends dad will sell me his Intel i7 920 for a good price and i have an AMD Phenom II 1100T. I will replace the motherboard and use the extra parts to build another PC. So, which CPU is better?

They're about tied; his is better in some areas and yours in others, but I'd definitely recommend sticking with yours, because of the whole having to buy a new motherboard issue.

In general :
Intel >better for games
AMD >better for programs

But it depends on the other hardware,moslty motherboard.

Intel is significantly better, because its built solid and generally has better L3 cache and fewer problems.

AMD is sort of the lowest-bidder budget gamer type CPU.
