Vertical Modular Washer from Whirlpool?

The machine is not plugged in and the lid is locked. When power is applied it clicks 5 times and dies. Is this the lid switch? Or a control problem?

Update:

This is a top loading washer with no heating element. It has no brakes, It relys on a lid lock mech to keep the people out while it is spinning it is a belt driven washer with a splutch mech. Service pointers has issued this little ditty:

Does anyone know if the washers lid switch is locked normally when not in use?

Update 2:

Just wanted to see if anyone knew before ordering the $45 lid lock kit.

Update 3:

Bump

Update 4:

I have 97 ohms between yellow and common but I have open circuit between red and white and blue and white with the lid closed and it is locked right now.
