my dog being aggressive toward guests?
I have a shih tzu I got from the pound and everytime someone comes into the house he bites them and growls but he is fine when it is just me and my family what can i do

As you know this is very bad behavior and he is trying to take control. When someone comes to the door have him leashed. Make him sit and stay until you give the release command. This does not mean you let him off the leash. With a little lead way take the dog to the new person to smell. If he goes to snap it is a quick jerk on the collar with a firm no and sit. This will take a lot of practice. Have a friend help you work on it.
