Was the forbidden fruit really an apple?

Could it be that we got the translation wrong and it's actually a Pineapple? How would the Genesis account be different if the forbidden fruit was...say...a watermelon? Kiwi? MANGO?

Update:

((((((((((((((AZ))))))))))))))))))))) that FIGures!

The 'Apple' is a good example of how non godly people distort the Bible. The Bible does not say it was an apple tree, that would be so out of Character for God. It was the tree of Knowledge of good and evil. It probably was not a literal 'tree'. There is no 'fruit' as we think of as fruit that would cause a human of recieving knowledge of good and evil. Come on, where is that scientific, logical thinking atheists are supposed to have?

No one knows WHAT the forbidden fruit was, the bible never says, so people have just decided to use an apple to symbolize it. But in all probability, it was probably a fruit that was unique to that tree and doesn't exist today.

It never says apple. In all likelihood, it was a fig (due to the fig leaves they used to cover themselves up), assuming genesis is correct.

In Assassin's Creed, it's an Ancient Alien theory device...

  • Given the geography, something like a pomegranate is far more likely.

The current theory is that it was a fig.

Apples originated from Europe and would not have been known in that part of the world at that time.

It never even said it was an apple in the first place.
