Why do people chain their dogs?

I don't understand this, I am asking for Mature answers, please!

To be honest with you I think it is Laziness- I think it is cheaper for you to buy that Chain than it is for you to Build a New Fence.

Now this is for the people who chain their dogs for days/weeks/months at a time, who put a few slaps of wood together & call it a house.

I have even heard someone try to tell me a Chained dog doesn't attack people(LMAO), that has been proven wrong time & time again.

I am not trying to offend anybody I just would like some answers by different people who do this.

2nd Question: Does your Chained dog know all Basic Commands?

( Sit, Lay, Stay, Shake, or No, just to name a few)

I have never came across a Chained dog that has passed Basic Obedience Training, has yours? And if Not, WHY NOT?

Another thing I have observed is that most chained dogs are Unneutered & Used for Breeding. Is this true about your dogs?

Do you ever walk your chained dog, if so for how long?

I am sorry for the questions, but I am just curious to WHY people do this.

Many people have well-trained dogs that can go on tie-outs to use the bathroom. This is especially helpful for handicapped people. My dog is neutered and knows basic commands. I only leave my dog out for minutes at a time. People who leave their dogs out for longer are hurting the dogs health and obviously don't care too much about their pet.

  • Either the dog is dangerous and it needs to be shackled because it'll hurt someone otherwise; or the owners can't afford an invisibile fence and are afraid the dog will run away; or the dog might impregnate another dog if it gets free; or the dog is being mistreated.

I don't chain my dogs, but there's a vet in my family. Generally, chained dogs are on the wild side; hence why they're chained in the first place. Also, yes, a higher percentage of chained dogs aren't neutered as compared to unchained dogs.

I guess you could say it's just the nature of the beast.

I have a herding dog that we leave chained up. She's just a farm dog she knows basic obedience (sit, down, heal, stay, shake) we just keep her chained cuz she has a bad habit of killing small animals. Like I said she's a herding dog so she has a very high prey drive. We also let her loose to play quite often. We also don't have a "slapped together wood thing" we have a big plastic dogloo from Rural King that we keep fresh straw in for her to bed in. She is fixed. Please stop stereotyping people it makes even people that are doing it responsibly look bad.

Because they`re dumb and don`t have a heart and think that just because it`s a big Dog it can`t come in to the house, and because it stinks, and that they didn`t know what breed it was.
