Alastair Campbell is now calling elements of the British Press putrid,does he include himself ?
Campbell who was up to his neck in the sleazy tactics of 'New Labour' and Teflon Tony is hardly in a position to complain about anything the press get up to. Sounds more to me like a case of,"pot calling kettle black" or as Shakespeare said," methinks he doth protest too much".
No Dafydd I base my opinion on the actions of Campbell as reported in the media overall. It's too late for him to come out of the woodwork crying "foul" about the newspapers who he used for his own and Teflon Tony's purposes for years.
erskine you are of course correct the politicians and the press have relied on the short term memory of the vast bulk of the public for years.Really the Press have been getting away with their often disgusting practises for years but it obviously suited our politicians who did nothing about it until now.
Redmonk in your humorous fashion you highlight the political correctness which is rotting away our country but nothing would surprise me in what our PC police get up to

It is down to the general public in the final analysis.
We kept voting for Blair and his cronies.
We buy the newspapers with all their salacious gossip.
Then, shock horror, they go a bit too far and WOW!! we are all horrified.

I agree,Campbell has certainly bitten the hand that fed him for years! But I also believe the British press deserve all the castigating we can muster. A lot of Journalists became lazy and relied on private detectives to do their dirty work and they are now paying the price!

Your opinions have obviously been formed as a result of reading those poisonous tabloid newspapers. You should read Campbell's blog. I think he is a breath of fresh air. You should also watch the Leveson inquiry to see just how sinister the popular press is.
