i could really use some words of encouragement right about now?

im trying not to let myself get depressed due to not having a job for the last year due to a lay off and only six months left of unemployment . its rough out there . but to add to this my son has had two jobs in the last month and messed up both of them. seriously , how messed up is that . im praying that when i go to a temp agency they will be able to place me in a job since it seems that i cant depend on my son, who is 27 , to help me out . its really quite sad. but like i said i could use some words of encouragement to keep my from falling into a deep depression.

Update:

yes i know my sons problems are his own but he does live with me so i could of used the help when it comes to the household we do share. i dont know, i just think thats fair.

no no no dont discouraged! the bible tells us that youll never see the righteous forsaken, nor his seed out begging for bread. Just keep applying for jobs and maybe lower your sights a little. My partner wanted to move and spent almost 3 years searching for a new job in Norfolk. We knew it was because of his age that no one was taking him on. Luckily he did already have a job although he hated it. Then one day right out of the blue he gets a phone call from an old boss who knew someone who was looking for a new bod in Norwich. He had to take a big drop in pay but we are where we want to be and he's happy in his job. Never give up,spread the word around too because it's not what you know it's who you know.....

I've been out of work for two years. I'm 64. I have a 37 yr. old son who has his own very successful business, but I've never asked him to help. That's up to him. Don't count on your son. you have to count on yourself. Your son's problems are his problems, not yours.

Don't give up. subscribe to some sites like Employment Crossing and Monster. Keep applying for jobs. follow up on resumes that you send. Think about changing careers and certainly be willing to change locations. Think about going back to school. Potential employers don't like big employment gaps so you need to be doing something: part time work, education, volunteer work in your field. you must keep up with changes in your field, so read and take courses. Set up a once a week breakfast meeting with a bunch of guys like yourself, but in different types of jobs. network: best way to get a job. Get up every morning, get dressed in business casual attire and consider job hunting a job.

Yes, it is rough out there and may of us are in the same boat. This too shall pass.

I don't know if you are Christian or not, but I always say, "Everything happens for a reason" No matter how long it takes, keep your head up. God has a plan for you. Keep faith in Him and everything will work out.
