Good Anniversary/ Christmas Present? *preferably guys who answer*?

Me and my boyfriend are 17 years old and have been dating since the 7th grade. Our anniversary is on the 19th of December, close to Christmas and I was wondering if the gift I had in mind was a good idea. Before I met him I was in a bad state, and I was depressed in many ways. I used to always tell him God gave him to me so I though about getting him a promise ring with "God gave me you" engraved inside it, and then our names engraved on the outside. I would like to know if this engraving is a good idea, or if I should put our names on the inside and the other on the outside or if I should just put our names on the ring, inside or out, and get him a dogtag necklace with God gave me you. Boys.. would you wear a ring that said something like this? I just want opinions and gift ideas. I know I am getting him the ring but I also need ideas for Christmas. Maybe the ring and the necklace? Any opinions given will be thanked :)
