Worldwide male life expectancy is currently around 65 at birth. It was quite a bit shorter when Einstein was born (something like 34 - hard to tie down) and he lived to 76.

Stephen Hawking has done rather well considering his physical problems. A survival for more than ten years after diagnosis (doctors gave him no more than 2-3 years to live at that point - he was 21) is uncommon for ALS; the longest documented durations, other than Hawking's, are 32 and 39 years and these cases were termed benign because of the lack of the typical progressive course. He also contracted pneumonia in 1985. He was born in 1942 - which makes him about 69 now.

That is a very inaccurate generalization.There are many geniuses in this world who lived for a relatively long time[Like Goethe] but have not,and do not, receive/d any media coverage.

Dont base your perception of the world on what the media tells you.The media only tells half of the truth of the one side of the story and sometimes it says no truths.The man who bases his perception of the world on what the media tells him is a very poor and ignorant person.

I would say that those geniuses who died in early age died from constant social pressure to adapt.It isnt easy to be smarter then everyone else in the world of average people.Everyone is asking of you to be as stupid as they are so they could feel good about themselves.If you are smarter then they are and they know it that invokes inadequacy in their mind which is often projected back at the genius[im not stupid,you are eg.]which invokes stress.It is called an ego defence mechanism.A genius is a free spirited person who must have total and complete freedom in life to feel happy and live a long and prosperous life.They probably died from stress induced illness.Stress is know to drain the intelligence up to 80% so that pretty much disables a genius from finding a solution to his problems because his mind is all he often has and he is reluctant to resort to violence because that constitutes a failure on their part.

It is interesting to note that for ordinary intellectual person, brain takes about a quarter of blood flow to brain and certainly that much energy. High intellectuals and spiritual people would take much larger proportion. This may tire off their body sooner.

Because a clever brain requires far more energy than you realise meaning the body's metabolism is running at an extremely high rate hence shortening life span.

people are born so that they can learn how to live a good life- like loving everybody all the time and being nice. They already know how to do that, so they don't have to say as long.
