What is the warranty for a Goodman, brand, furnace and AC unit for your home ?
I just bought a 3 year old home. It has a Goodman furnace and AC system. The AC is not working and when we had the home inspection done, we found out the AC did not work. Well, the homeowner, said he had the AC fixed and that they added 1.4 lbs of free on. Well, I just moved in yesterday and the AC is still not working. It runs, but does not blow cold air. I tested it for 3 hours, nothing. Is the factory warranty only for the original owner ?

If the unit was registered online at the time of install it would carry either the 10 year parts warranty or 5 year as I dont know what MN# unit you have.
You can go here an punch in your SN# http://mobile.goodmanmfg.com/mobileapp/index.jsp#/...
Which will tell you what the warranty is. If its say nothing then it goes of MFG date.
Having said that it only covers the parts not the labor !
You have a leak, thats why it does not work. Stop using it and call a goodman authorized HVAC company to trouble shoot the unit. Parts are free labor is not. And refrigerant is not not a part, so thats on you. And you do NOT have to be the original home owner.

If you had an agreement with the homeowner to fix the a/c, then the leak should have been fixed and freon added. If it does not work, you can take him to court, because it was not fixed properly. Repairing a leak and adding freon is not covered by a warranty, because warranties don't cover labor or missing refrigerant. Send him a certified letter requesting the repair, get estimates, get witnesses and documentation from the home inspector, and take him to small claims court. You do not need an attorney to do this.

Why should freon leak? Everyone talks like it SHOULD be expected to leak at sometime. Can t the copper tubing be made of a better quality so leaking won t be so acceptable?
I ve also had through the wall and window ACs for 20 years or more and never had to repair or replace any of them. Maybe the hell with CentrL Air and go back to separate ACs in every room. (Just a angry thought) forgive me.

Boe is correct. Your system apparently has a leak. Refrigerant may have been added but the leak should have been located and repaired so refrigerant does not have to be added again. Find out if the seller will still have this repaired as it should have been handled properly previously.

Since you obviously know how to go online why don't you find their website and ask them? And, no the warranty does not go with the owner, it stays with the equipment.

lighting strikes the outside compressor, can JUST the outside unit be replaced or does both inside and outside have to be replace?
