Any thoughts on ANCIENT ASTRONAUT THEORY (that ALIENS are behind RELIGON)?

Anybody believe aliens are/where behind the worlds' relgions/myths?

There is no denying that the entire world has some type of religion/myth in their particular culture. Why would people make up all of these religons consistently? Why not just be atheist and forget all this "weird" explanations of things? Are people that bored or imaginative? Or could it be....aliens.

Aliens visiting earth many years ago could expalin all the worlds' relgions. Primitive people could easily misinterpret advanced alien technology as supernatural/gods. Wouldn't "primitive" people today think are modern technology is god like/supernatural? Yes, they would. Why is hard to think that ancient people, our ancestors, did they same thing? These misinterpetations became religions that we follow today.

Who can expalin our relgions? Does anyone have definitve proof/logic their religon is real? But, still, something must be going on for all the worlds' cultures to belive in gods. Not only gods, but, almost unanimously, gods that come from the sky.

Some religons pointedly say that their gods came from the stars/different planets. Ancient drawings depict alien looking beings. UFOs have been reported all throughout histroy (as well as today).

Is it really that nuts to think, maybe, just maybe, that aliens are behind it all?

Update:

People, all over the world, just make up relgion for the fun of it? That seems odd, more odd than trying to explain why all of these people form every culture come up with a relgion. As I am suggesting, they are seeing something that is inspiring them to makeup relgions. They are consistently seeing soemthing all over the globe, it's universal. Doesn't this make anyone wonder? Why do they create/hold to these religions when just accepting atheism would be more rational? Where ancient people just that navie/dumb? Why would they believe in all of this if it's just make believe? Something must be going on. Just a entire globe believing in made up stories sounds highly illogical and improbable to me. On the other side, saying all of these relgions are true supernaturally doesn't make since either. All of these religions contradict each other. A lot claim they are the only trure relgion and all others are wrong. So, one relgion must be right and the rest made u

Very few people on this site will admit to following the Ancient Astronaut Theory. Once you've admitted to being "one of those Von Daniken nuts" you lose all credibility, as everyone thinks you've fallen off your rocker. I never have cared what others think of me, and am therefore not afraid to admit that I have been a believer in the Ancient Astronaut theory for over thirty years. It's the only thing which makes sense to me.

Even throughout all my years of atheism, I have believed that the Bible and other ancient texts are factual, historical accounts recorded in the best way they knew how. Writing was a new invention, something reserved for scribes and the highly educated. It was a difficult process, to set word to paper, and I cannot understand why so many people are convinced these are fanciful stories. Why on earth would anyone under these circumstances record fanciful stories rather than their history?

This makes no sense to me. I believe there is truth in these pages, just as I believe that prehistoric man recorded visitations in petroglyphs and in paintings on cave walls. They recorded their hunting experiences, the animals they saw ... and the beings they encountered.

Look, I could go on about this all day. The Ancient Astronaut Theory fascinates me like nothing else. There is a website which may interest you. It's called The Bible UFO Connection, and I will include a link. The site is huge. In over five years of visiting almost daily, I have yet to read all the information.

What may seem odd to some is that not all believers in the Ancient Astronaut Theory are atheists. I'm not. Erik Von Daniken isn't. Neither is Georgio Tsoukolos. Not a one of us will claim to be religious in any way, yet all of us will proclaim a belief in a supernatural entity. This may seem a contradiction, but people are free to believe what they wish. You are entitled to a belief in the Ancient Astronaut Theory.

very highly unlikely. On the order of a billion trillion numbers in a lottery. And it also seems psychologically unreasonable anyways.

Aren't you watching what is happening on this planet. We can't even manage a descent society.

You think other planets did... and then traveled across unimaginable distances, to visit an almost invisible spec, revolving around a slightly less than average spec of light.

Yur egzacly rite! I was abducted by aliens last year! After they stuck a probe up my *ss they taught me all about religons all around the world. Now I am an atheist because I see all religons are really come from aliens. I hope you can be abducted one day too.

Ippon, I have mulled over this possibility for many years and although we may have had alien visitors, I reject the notion that the basis for Christianity comes from them. Keep the faith. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is real, is Love, Light, Truth, Wisdom, Grace, benevolence and eternal. His goodness endureth from everlasting to everlasting. Depend on it. Believe it. Once you have been filled with The Holy 'Spirit, you will realize there is no room left for doubt.

It is nuts to think that aliens are behind it all. People are imaginative. The inaccuracies and leaps over counterevidence with speculation are rife in all these hypotheses ( a better word than they deserve)

It's more likely than the crap in the bible. What I'd like to know is how come they haven't made an appearance since then.

"Why not just be atheist and forget all this "weird" explanations of things?" - and your suggesting aliens are behind it ....is this somewhat ironic perhaps ...
