"Pregnancy" body pillow vs. regular body pillow?
The shape of the pregnancy pillows looks much more comfortable but the price tag is a bit high for me (seem to be around $40-$50 on Amazon). I'd rather not spend too much on myself with the baby coming.
Are the regular ones comfortable for use during pregnancy?

i bought a regular one when i got pregnant since it was 9.99. (im like you, i dont wanna spend to much so i can have more for all the baby stuff) and i LOVE the body pillow!! ive never used the pregnancy pillows, but i use my body pillow every night and every time i take a nap. it works well cause i could put one leg over and one leg under and curl up with it and still use the top part as a pillow too. but im 5'3'' so if your taller that might not work as a head pillow as well as the body pillow. and when my back hurts bad, i lay it behind me and lay against it, it keeps me at a angle so im not on my back so its healthy for baby and me, and it helps relieve my back pain. butttt, i will tell you this, do not let your husband/boyfriend use it at all lol, he'll try to steal it. we had to buy an extra for mine! never thought i could type a whole paragraph on a pillow, lol its just that great, i'd recommend it!

I found the regular pillows lost their firmness and shape after I used it for a while, and then they weren't as supportive. I love my pregnancy pillow, though. It has kept its shape and because it is curved, it fits my giant belly a lot better. I would say if you're planning on more than one child, it's a good investment. It might also be worth looking into finding out if a good friend has one they would be willing to give you, and then just pay to have it dry cleaned.
Good luck! I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly.

Pregnancy body pillows can be used at any time to provide the extra comfort that is needed throughout the day and can also be used for sleeping. During the day, while sitting, the discomfort and pressure that may be experienced by many women can be relieved by just using maternity body pillows to provide support in those vital areas. Body pillows for pregnant women are so designed that they can be used to place behind the area of the back and the hips to relieve that stiffness and discomfort caused by the extra weight. A maternity pillow is also great for propping up the legs and feet, which aids in reducing swelling in those areas.

i thought id used a normal pillow to start with as the pregnancy ones are very expensive but as it turns out my bump (even at 36 weeks) doesnt actually stick out enough.
i need the support as the baby is heavy for my tummy but putting a pillow underneath doesnt actually help because it doesnt stick out, i just fold the end of the duvet underneath me
trying with a normal pillow first to see if you think you'll need one or not
congrats x

It depends on the person. My sister in law, loved hers! I bought one...and never used it.
