They are waiting for someone to vote & break the tie.

If the asker does not pick a Best Answer, the question goes into Voting mode. During the two day voting period all Y!A users can vote for Best Answer. If no one votes, or there is no one answer with more votes than the others, the question goes into Tie-Breaker mode. It remains in Tie-Breaker mode until an answer get enough votes (or No Best Answer votes) to be declared the winner. This could take years. The Y!A Tie-Busters group has devoted itself to going to old questions & breaking the ties. Personally, I've voted on unresolved questions that were 4 years old. I'll bet those users were surprised to get the "Congrats! You got a Best Answer" email after all that time! You can join here : http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Yah00AnswersTie...

TO VOTE FOR BEST ANSWERS ON UNDECIDED QUESTIONS:

go to the category of your choice

click on the "in voting" tab

read the question & the answers

click on the 'vote for best answer' button or the 'no best answer' button

you'll earn one point per vote (no point for 'no best answer' though)

You can also go to any question you've answered that the asker didn't pick a BA for and vote for your own answer. It’s a legal way to help resolve the question(s) and to earn yourself some points (1 point for voting as well as any Best Answer points you happen to pick up).

There are in "tie breaker" mode - or nobody voted on them. (which is still "tie-breaker" mode).

Voting no best answer, removes them.
