Code Geass vs Deathnote vs Steins Gate?

Do you mind ranking these three great anime? I have recently seen Stein's Gate and thought it was incredible. I would like to see other peoples opinion on these. If you don't mind could you put the reason why on your ranking...thanks.

    Steins;Gate - 9.5/10

    Code Geass - 8/10

    Death Note 7.5/10

I really enjoyed Steins;Gate. It kept me interested throughout, and I loved the twists and turns and the suspense and urgency in the second half, plus the characters were all very likable. Even the characters who irritated me at first, I really liked by the time the series was over. I also liked that the characters seemed to be pretty simple people at the beginning, even just one-dimensional stereotypes, but were shown to be much more complicated as the series went on. Also, I guess I fell right into the trap the series intentionally laid. It leads the viewer to believe that there's going to be some seriousness, but it's mostly going to be pretty lighthearted and even goofy at times, so when "that" finally happened about halfway through, I was legitimately really shocked, and that added a lot to the series as a whole for me. Overall, awesome series. Let's just hope the movie isn't a disappointment.

Code Geass. Looking at my MAL, I have the first season rated 7, and the second season rated 9, so I guess the series as a whole gets an 8 from me. I really enjoyed the second season and thought the ending was nearly perfect, but the first season dragged a little for me, and let's be honest, the series as a whole, and some of the characters, are a little hard to take seriously at times. At least that was the case was for me. I guess it goes over-the-top on purpose, but I feel like it doesn't always "work." Plus, some characters were great, but there were some characters I think the series would have been better off without. Overall a good series with a few flaws that keep it from being amazing.

Death Note is a solid series, but it really starts to stumble after a certain character death. If you've seen it, you probably know what I'm talking about. I didn't even like this particular character, but the whole series goes downhill pretty quickly after he's gone, and it doesn't pick up again until near the end. I mean way downhill. It becomes hard to watch for a while there. If the second half of the series was as good as the first half, I might rate this as high as 8.5, although the cast of irritating characters that I didn't care about at all still puts it a bit below Steins;Gate for me. Don't get me wrong though, this is still an enjoyable series, but to be honest, it never quite grabbed me the way it seems to have grabbed others.

What these 3 have in common is:

    a damn smart plot,

a great main character development, the main character is a bit (more) "out of the ordinary" (though one hits the science side, another the inheritance/revenge and the other the detective) and, in the end, all change the world,

the voice acting is almost flawless,

    the sound is great,

    the art is enjoyable.

Code Geass had its ups and downs (loved the 3 moves ahead way of Lelouch's thinking), though one of the most great anime I've seen - 9

Death Note was also great, but didn't like the second half as much as the first (didn't found Near and the other guy so much of mind trigger for L's scheming) - 8,5

Steins; Gate was .. something else... lately; I find it really good (also enjoyed the visual novel) - 9

    Death Note: 10/10

    Code Geass: 7/10

    Steins Gate: (Still watching)

I have a lot of acquaintances at a high school. I also have a lot of friends here at Georgia Institute of Technology. Tbh, my high school acquaintances prefer Code Geass while my intellectual college friends prefer Death Note. The main difference between the two is that Code Geass is more action packed with a sci/fi environment while Death Note is a more dark/suspenseful anime. Code Geass is aimed at the more juvenile audience while Death Note is aimed at the more mature audience. My college friends preferred Death Note because of its innovative nature and originality. Code Geass is good, but it was filled with the basic action and mecha warfare. Tbh, it seems like Death Note recreated the whole suspenseful genre into a whole new level while Code Geass simply copied some of the elements from Death Note and Gundam Siege.

    1. Steins;Gate (#3 on my all-time list)

    2. Death Note (#5 on my all-time list)

    3. Code Geass (#7 on my all-time list)

So, yeah. All three are very, very good and incredibly addictive. Some of it will probably come down to taste. Steins;Gate just had some of the tightest plotting I ve ever seen. Remarkable series.

Death Note and Code Geass are very close. But I would have to give it to Geass.

    ***THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

    CHARACTERS:

The reason why is because Lelouch is solely determined from the day the story begins to achieve his goal of destroying Britannia. Before you say that's exactly like Light, remember Light only really had to take on 3 people. To achieve his world goal, his opponent's didn't have the aid of the notebook. Whereas Lelouche's greatest enemy was the empire itself, He would have to take on dozens of enemies that were more skilled and just as powerful as him.

Lelouche's ultimate goal was to free the world from prejudice and discrimination by turning the hatred towards himself. Plus he sacrificed himself to achieve that goal, whereas light only had the intention of being a true god.

    PLOTLINE:

Geass is more thought out, it keeps viewer entertained with it's action and suspense. As well as leaving the viewer to think about possible solutions to the characters seemingly unsolvable problems.

DN is an equally thought out story but it drops short as the story progresses the quality declines and the viewer is easily bored by the end.

    CHARACTER DEV:

Geass you are told basically the life story of Lelouche, from his upbringing as a child prince to his days as a rebel to the empire. You see how he changes during the story, regretting decisions he makes and going more in-depth and revealing his feelings.

All you know about Light is that he's basically a genius. There is no reveal about his early years and his thoughts on the world months before the story. You are kept in the dark about his social status and power.

Source(s): My thoughts Also, sorry but i haven't seen Stein's Gate. I'll look into it later after seeing what other people write about it.
