Piano players -What are some exercises I can use to strengthen my left hand?
And no, I'm not kidding, or soliciting sexual metaphors. I'm learning piano, and my left hand and fingers need to be have the muscles and tendons strengthened. If you know of any exercises that would help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Take a stress ball and squeeze it when you are watching TV or something that does not take much concentration. You can try squeezing it with the ball in your palm at first, then eventually try to squeeze it with just your finger tips. Just the frequent repetition of this will help strengthen your hand and muscles. I would recommend to work on strengthen your right hand too, rather than just your left. Playing lots of Hanon and playing day helps build and keep your muscles intact :)

I agree, your hands need to learn some independence. How ever, this is a mental thing, not physical. The quickest way to solve this problem is just spend a ton of time plating the LH only. Play it until you can play every pattern with your eyes closed or watching TV and paying attention to something else. Then slowly introduce the RH back in again. The theory here is your if brain can only handle one line of rhythm at a time. So, practice the LH until you're so good at it , it becomes automatic and you don't have to think about it! .
