Did they say you have bacterial pneumonia? Or viral? Antibiotics don't work on viral types.

Antibiotics are quite inexpensive now. About 4 bucks at any pharmacy. And you can ask for generic inhaler. That will save you too.

If it's bacterial pneumonia, you NEED those antibiotics to get better or you'll just keep getting worse and wind up in an oxygen tent in the hospital's intensive care unit.

See if your pharmacy has a plan that will help you with your prescription. Many of them, like Walgreen's, do have a plan to help customers get their medication.

Well you must have bacterial infection and not viral...but they could just be guessing on that without a sputum culture (did they get one?)

What inhaler did they give you? unless you have asthma, SAVE YOUR MONEY it will not do ANYTHING. Trust me on that. Bronchodialators DO NOTHING for pneumonia I do not care what Dr. says it does. Tell them to show you in a PDR manual were it does.

Otherwise, see if you can get a generic brand for your antibiotic or if not have your Dr. switch to one that does. It'll save you a ton of money and do the trick...yes you do need to take them if you have Bact-pneumonia and TAKE ALL OF IT TILL IT IS OUT:-)

Pneumonia can be deadly if not treated. I would highly suggest getting the medications you need. You can call your local hospital and see if you have a free clinic in your area, and you should be able to get the medications for free.

If you can't afford the medications, CALL THE doctor and see of they could change it to something you can afford.
