how to keep up nice coat for our husky?

not had a Siberian husky breed before, ours is only 3months old but just wanted to know how to keep up a nice coat for him?

with our other dogs we used cod liver oil once a day in their food and raw egg once a week, but husky s have sensitive stomachs is it the same method or is their another for them?

Update:

HORSE LOVER: all research was done before we got the dog, but just because we do something one way doesn't mean its the best and only way, were open minded and open to hear from others as their might be so experienced husky owners who have had years of experience and can suggest something that worked for their dog that would work for our dog, my QUESTION is in relation to dogs not horses so do you have any helpful advice?(apart from nit picking at me)

Quite literally, it should all be in the bag. Most top quality dog food these days contains everything a puppy/adult needs to maintain a healthy coat, and health generally. Be careful about additives because with the food available these days, there is more danger of over-supplementing, than under-supplementing - unless the dog needs extra for some medical reason.

Regular grooming is essential of course. Talk to his breeder - the best source of information when it comes to breed, and individual bloodlines.

Add - I'd always speak to a reputable breeder over a vet, when it comes to feeding. So few vets have the depth of knowledge about feeding every breed - and most will just promote Science Diet etc. - because they get a rake-off in terms of sales.

Vitamin e will help, but ask your vet how much, & how often, you just poke it with a pin & squirt on food. Also use Mane & Tail shampoo when you bathe him, can get at a feed store, and indeed get him a good brush also for sure!! My Norwegian Elkhound had a gorgeous coat, brushing especially in the summer if you are in a warmer climated state!

Egg should always be cooked. Cod liver oil will probably be very beneficial too. Always check with your vet before introducing new foods to your puppy that you are unsure of. All you need to do is call - advice is free over the phone. :) enjoy your new bundle of love!

You would think that would be something you would research before you bought the dog. Know the breed before you buy!

You can mix in cat food with their regular food once a week.

But you will need to find out what kind won't bother their stomach.
