Hair Loss: Do we have to use Propecia or can we find a milder alternative?
Hair loss is a huge issue for many guys (and some women I hear). My question is, are we stuck with Propecia or are there effective ways to stop hair loss without breaking our bank account or damaging our body? Anything that can be applied directly to the scalp that is NOT Minoxidil or Rogaine? I don't like Minoxidil-derived products, I have an adverse reaction and they don't work well for me anyway. Thanks for answering to this ever-lasting problem!

It depends on how severe your hair loss is. If it's mild or you are at the beginning of your hair loss, you can get away with a DHT blocker shampoo, used 3 times a week or more often. You should see some results in a few weeks (such as the growth of new hair).
If it's severe you will need to accompany it with other treatments, such as a D H T blocking lotion (and there are not many that actually work, unfortunately, though women have the added bonus of using topical progesterone if they want to, but not men). You may not be able to get out of using Propecia or similar if your hair loss is severe or very advanced. Usually a combination of tablets, topical lotion and the right shampoo is good enough and will restore a good percentage of your hair, provided you are not completely bald already. I like Nizoral 2%, I read up on it and it worked really well for me, though I am not a man LOL.
