Why does it seem there so many tragedies around Christmas time?

I'm sure you read about them. Dozens of horrible stories about women and children murdered chopped up starving, kidnapped tortured and burned alive, and that's just a partial list. Not to mention the thousands of children that die every day due to the lack of basic medical help that we take for granted in the WESTERN world. Tis the season to be depressed? It seems YAHOO News always seems to get the goriest stories first.

The best story I saw all christmas was the cute little 4 week old Polar Bear named Siku meaning "Sea Ice", which is what they need to exist is is of major concern. So cute. I saw it today LIVE on the TODAY Show.

It seems like this whole year has been filled with tragedies. Not just national tragedies, but local tragedies too. Just this year, a bad accident happened and a teen lost his life. His fellow classmates were devastated. Tragedy happens every day, but I agree that it seems to get worse around the holidays. One of the worst stories I've heard is a house fire at a home in Connecticut on Christmas day that killed children and grandparents. It really makes me sad, especially since it happened on Christmas day. Hopefully, the New Year will bring more joy, and less tragedy.

It is actually a fact that you are more likely to be murdered by a family member on Christmas day than any other day of the year, because you get together with your family members then. I don't know why families would do such terrible things, but that is a fact I've heard.
