what do i need to do??
David,
You did not help me in any way. The first of all English is not my basic language. Second i wrote it from the Blackberry and the last but not least im feel sorry that your son is a 42 old **** that threw his life away. You call me immature but do you even know how old i am? Maybe im 9 (im 15 btw).

I had the same problem last summer, i was addicted to a wonderful computer game and played it a lot even up to 8 hours a day! my mom always told me it's bad and harmful for you and you are reducing your physical activities and etc... . if you really bring good grades at school and teachers are satisfied from your work, it means you programming is great, so, you can tell your mother that computer game doesn't really impact your lessons and homework.
But your mother isn't also wrong. if she thinks you are spending too much time with playing, she thinks you should so something else, more beneficial. like reading books, study more, physical activities or even hanging out with your friends. so, just talk to her and listen carefully to what she says.

You claim to get high grades ! Have a good look at your question, look at your spelling, grammar and punctuation than ask yourself if it appears to be written by someone who is a clever student. Not likely. I have a son who plays a lot of Xbox too. He is a very immature 42 year old who is obsessed with and lives in fantasy. Do you want to end up like that? You are saying that you spend 18 -22 hours per week on Xbox ??? How is your perception of reality ? Do you understand the difference between reality and virtual reality ? Your mother is right, you should use Xbox as a part time game not as you seem to be doing, as an escape from reality. Think about it like this, 22 hours is the equivalent of 3, 7 hour working days ! Multiply that by 52 weeks and what do you get 156 x 7 hour working days in a year or almost 6 months of working days. Am I wrong? do the maths and see if I am right. Can you now understand why your mother is concerned ?

That doesn't sound like too much time to be spending on your xbox if you are indeed keeping active and getting good grades. There probably isn't much more you can do, and it is her house, and her rules. Still, I would give her the occasional reminder about the good habits that you have. Perhaps surprise her and do a household chore that you're not expected to do, without her asking.

If you can't talk to your mom about it, have someone do it for you. She may change her mind if someone her own age makes her see reason.
