What is the WDW down payment, refund policy, and last-minute addition policy for packages? :)?

I know this is a lot, but I have a lot of questions about Disney World, I've been there before but this is my first time planning the vacation myself. My college friends and I want to go. So I'm familiar about what to do once you get there, its just the planning I have questions about:

1. What is the down payment? Some sources say its $200, but has that changed?

2. What's the last day to make a payment? We'll have to pay in installments one way or the other.

3. When is the last day to get a refund, if any, if we have to cancel the trip?

4. If a friend wants to go at the last minute, can we add him to our package at the last minute?

Thank you so much guys, its amazing how confusing the WDW website can be :)

    1. nope it has not changed. $200 deposit for each vacation package booked (for example if you only need 1 room then it would be $200 but if you need to book 2 rooms it would count as 2 vacation package bookins so you'd need to pay 2 $200 deposits and so on)

    2. it must be paid in full by 45 days prior to your trip

    3. you can cancel it as late as 7 days prior to your trip and get a full refund including the deposit.

if you cancel it with less than 7 days until the trip you will receive everything but the $200 back.

(this is why i NEVER opt for the trip insurance cuz the most you are ever out is $200 per vacation package and the insurance itself costs about $200 for each vacation package booked and you do NOT get that back if you decide to cancel).

    4. yep its pretty easy to add someone. you would just need to contact disney world and have the person added and pay for it right then if its within the 45 days prior to your trip.

Source(s): been to disney world 48 times.
