Does it matter what a candidate's religion is?

I want to see what the real person thinks about if a candidate's religion plays any part in their decision process.

No. I'm more interested in how a person believes their religion plays a part in his or her life. Someone who wishes to impose their religious beliefs on others is not fit for public office, no matter how well-intentioned.

A religion or lack thereof is a part of any person's character and is a predictor of how they will behave in certain situations as well as a look into their possible policies.

I have no real issue with the religion of any of the Republican candidates.

If they are part of a religion that is obviously bad I won't vote for them. (devil worshiping, satanists, etc)

Otherwise it totally depends on who the person is for me, not where their from or anything else that people generally stereotype.

Unfortunately it's getting harder to tell what a candidate is really like these days because they're all just saying what the people want to hear instead of doing what they think is right.

It shouldn't, but there are a lot of religious people that fear other religions. It will be interesting to see how the evangelicals come to grips with that when the choice will be between a Christian Republican (Obama) and a Mormon Republican (Romney).

No. It should not. There were no Catholics elected before JFK. That is not to say that some people look at it, but I think for most GOP that beating Obama for them is more important than religion.

    Absolutely.

Believe it or not, there are some people in the US who want a leader whose finger is on the button not taking his orders from Salt Lake City, Rome or Bob Jones University.

all of our presidents have been religious men and yet we have never seen one abuse his power and enforce things or change things based on their religions.

this time around though we will see dems talk bad about Mormons and loose every LDS vote.

    Yes it does.

And just wait and see, if Mitt is the actual nominee, Obama, DNC, Moveon, etc will attack everything about Mitt being LDS.

Only in a society that has people constantly telling you that this is a Christian Country.
