Will BBs ruin my Daisy powerline 880 air gun?

1.Will the BBs damage the rifling?

2.If so will it affect shooting pellets afterwords?

3.Which BBs would be the best for the rifling Daisy zinc plated vs Crosman copper plated?

(my air gun is a multi-ammo so it will take both)

Q1.Will the BBs damage the rifling?

A1. Eventually it will erode the rifling. However it will take a long time and thousands of BBs to do that. I really don't think you need to worry about this.

Q2. If so will it affect shooting pellets afterwords?

A2. Not in the short term. Eventually it probably will, but again I wouldn't worry about it. That's because the Daisy 880 has a steel barrel which is designed to be able to handle BBs and pellets.

Q3. Which BBs would be the best for the rifling Daisy zinc plated vs Crosman copper plated?

A3. I don't think it really matters a whole lot. I know Tom Gaylord prefers Daisy BBs since he says they tend to be a bit more uniform and deliver a bit more accuracy in his opinion. Regardless of the BB you use, I really doubt you'll notice much difference between the two because both Daisy and Crosman BBs will be sub-caliber and bounce around as they move down the barrel.(1) I've used Daisy BBs in my Daisy 880. I typically can keep most of my shots on a soda can at 50 feet with BBs. I doubt you'll get much better accuracy than that with BBs.

The Daisy 880 is a nice entry-level air-rifle. It's not expensive and will shoot several thousands of BB's or pellets before wearing out. The rifled barrel helps shoot pellets accurately. There is a safety near the trigger. It's your money. Buy what you want.

1.The Daisy Powerline 880 is capable of shooting .177 bbs and .177 pellets.

    2. It wont affect shooting pellets afterwards

    3. If you have ever examined Crossman Copperhead BBs VS Daisy zinc plated, Daisy bbs are smoother, dont have pits/holes in them and are better made.

    "Chase" is 100% correct.

The barrel of your Daisy Powerline 880 is designed to shoot both steel BBs and lead pellets.

The last paragraph explains "BBs are they the same as .177"

Crosman Copperhead pellets are generally less expensive and I highly doubt you'll notice any difference in performance(accuracy / velocity). But again, Chase is correct Daisy does have better quality control and their BBs are more uniform than Crosman. >Daisy also has a "super-grade" BB(Avanti) which is used in 5M competition

"BBs" will degrade the rifling of your 880. Over time, the "BBs" will completely destroy the rifling, to have near smooth bore accuracy with pellets.

There is not much difference between those two "BB" brands, both will degrade rifling, both will certainly be inaccurate.

Your best bet is to shoot lead pellets, or a lead roundball, very similar to a "BB" in shape, but fits the barrel better, and is lead, so it will fit the use the rifling to be much more accurate than the "BBs."

The Daisy Powerline 880 is a dual ammo rifle, commonly used by kids for shooting cans, bottles, squirrels, and unfortunately, some kids like to kill our songbids for fun.

    1. No it will not

    2. The pellet will shoot just fine afterwards.

    3. Copper plated BBs are kinda cheap and have the occasional flat surface, so go with zinc.
