Why does my boss have many companies at companies house?

I have looked at Companies House at my boss and he has many companies that have been dissolved over 20 years. He is an accountant and I can see that a number of these businesses are infact some of our clients business and he is down as a Company director or he has resigned as a company director.

Why would you do this?

Is he dodgy?

Or is it part of his job as an accountant to set up companies for clients and have his name on them?

Thank you

Sometimes in a 50-50 partnership another non shareholding Director is appointed to be used as an independent casting vote. There are probably hundreds of other reasons.
