Weighing the pro's and con's of a septum piercing.?
I want a septum piercing. I have been toying with the idea for about ten years. The only thing holding me back is that my husband said I shouldn't get one. And my mother asked me not to get it, too. But I really want it! I have 9 holes in my ears, and a nostril piercing that I have had for 16 years. I had a tongue piercing, but I took that out like 7 years ago. And I am heavily tattooed. It wouldn't look out of place on me.
When I asked my husband why he didn't want me to get it, and he didn't have any other thing to say besides, "I just don't think you should get one." When I asked my mother why she didn't want me to get one, she immediately changed the topic of conversation. She has a monroe and a nostril piercing and 5 holes in her ears, so she's pierced up, yet doesn't want me to pierce my septum.
What would YOU do in this situation? Why? Should I follow my wishes or respect the wishes of others around me? What should I do?
Thanks in advance for all the help.

I got my septum done recently and I love it so much. I think you should get it, if youve been thinking about getting it for 10 whole years do it. Pros; This piercing doesn't hurt at all, you don't even notice it there sometimes, there's a wide selection of different horseshoes (the 2g horns are my favorite), and if you think if look like to much on you or you don't think it looks good at all, just flip that ***** up in your nose ^___^ you should ask your piercer to stretch it open so you can flip it up your nose. Cons.. When you first get it and you have a runny nose or sneeze, itching your nose with your palm hurts a teeny bit. Uhm.. And I'm guessing getting in a fight with a ***** and she happens to punch your nose ? That way hurt. The pros really outweigh the cons. Ha,
My boyfriend didn't want me getting my septum either , I got it done, he ended up liking it tons :) so who know, your husband might like it, you'll never know till you try it (:

They don't want you to get it because they don't like how it looks.
There really are few real cons to a septum piercing--easy to hide, heals quickly and easily, next to no pain and if you take it out there's no visible scarring.
I've had my septum piercing for almost 3 years. I believe it enhances the femininity of my face, but I usually have an 18g small diameter seamless ring in it most of the time.

Well, from personal experience, my boyfriend said he didn't like septums and I got it anyways, and he ended up loving it on me.
They're really easy to hide, you can flip them up and no one will even know they are there.
I will tell you though, I got bored of mine VERY quickly. They're a pain in the butt to heal, and I truthfully just lost interest in it. They're fun for the first 2 or 3 months, then are boring. At least, that's how it was for me so I ended up taking it out since I didn't feel like dealing with it anymore. Blowing your nose is annoying, making out is annoying because it pushes around inside your nose, I dunno! It's your choice, and if you really want one, do it! Just trying to give you both sides :)

I have never heard of this before so I googled it and I think the reason they might not want you to get it is because it takes away the softness and beauty of a woman's face regardless if your covered in tattoo's and other piercings. I always tell myself that if it takes me longer to think of something than to get it then I don't really need it.. So in this case, if you had really wanted it that badly you would have done it 10years ago so why go through with it now?

There are no cons of a septum piercing because you can flip it up and they never grow in! I have one and I love it. You seem to have enough body mods, hardly an issue in my opinion about worrying about the wishes of others. I have a little crescent instead of a retainer or circular barbell and I find it feminine and dainty. :)
