Dry clean only, but cleaners say they can't without bleeding?
I bought a college type sports jacket last year. The shell is 38% wool, the rest is polyester with some acrylic knitting. The care instructions say to dry clean only, however the cleaners say they can't clean without the dark blue (shell is dark blue and black) will bleed over the stitched on white lettering and possibly the white stripes on the collar and cuffs.
How am I supposed to wash this? I figure I can hand wash the collar and cuff areas as they feel like normal material, but I'm a smoker and pet owner and would like to also get the smells out of the rest of the garment.

I have several highly dyed shirts that are dry clean only. I use a product called Dryel that you use at home. You put the item in the dryel bag and put in one of the cleaning sheets, zip the bag and put it in your dryer. The starter kit also comes with special dry clean only stain remover. It works for me... nothing has ever bled and I put all the shirts in together when I do this so I don't waste a whole sheet on 1 shirt.

My suggestion is to try a few more dry cleaners. If you start screwing around yourself you mess up the jacket. You may find a dry cleaner that is a pro and can do the job with confidence.
