Using a Walking Stick?

I have a left trochanteric tear in the muscle and when I spoke to my surgeon today he suggested that a walking stick might help. I am due to see a physiotherapist about this. At the moment I am seeing the physiotherapist for a right shoulder problem. My understanding is that if you need a walking stick you use it in the opposite side to the painful or injured leg. What I need to know is how much pressure this would put on my right shoulder?

Update:

Flerp, grow up. I am asking a genuine question here and need genuine answers/

hello. i am young walking stick user. i have always used a single stick on the side that was injured or weakest. there are many different types of walking aids besides your traditional stick. if you needed to use a stick in your right arm then a gutter crutch would probably be better. there are also a variety of walking frames and rollators. some of these have forearm supports for one or both arms.

have a look online at what is available. if your physio can't provide what you want or need then you can buy your own or it is possible to borrow items from the red cross.

I even have used a cane to help me get around with a bad knee. I do plenty extra suitable utilising a walker. physique is extra balanced and weight is dispensed. i ponder whether you are able to have the potential to apply crutches ? if so you are able to take all your weight off the ankle.~~ With the walker i'm in a position to hold issues to different rooms interior the abode by way of fact my little walker has an related basket under the seat of the walker. it is so handy. i presently have been given this one and my insurance paid for it. What an incredible help it is for me. i'm hoping I even have given you something to contemplate and that i pray to your therapeutic. God Bless you.

Considering your conditions I think it would be best to consult with your Physiotherapist.

Not really sure how a weird looking bug is going to help, but have fun.
