Weight loss mission - bad ankle?
I'm needing to lose some weight (not going to say how much, thats personal lol) but have a very badly damaged ankle that's due an operation in May. Does anybody have any tips on aerobic/cardio exercises that I can do that will put little to no strain on my ankle? The pain and restrictions I have with it rules out things like jumping jacks and running, although I can walk okay on some days. But that seldom gets my heart pumping! Any tips would be great.
Yep, annoying about my ankle - of all the places to injure! I've been told to not run under any circumstances (I couldnt even if I wanted to as the pressure just KILLS!). Thank you!

Ok, you will have to get your heart rate up. You can do this with doing exercise quickly without breaks aka a circuit, to keep it going you might have to do half reps. Ex. Push ups (quick and only about 1/3 bend on elbow) straight to crunches then to rows repeat for 3 sets. Losing weight with a damaged ankle is tough because #1 way to lose weight is RUNNING. no other way around it. Aerobic exercise and sensible diet over a period of time will lower your weight. Try cycling, if riding a bicycle doesn't hurt your ankle, then do that for about an hour daily, you will lose weight I guarantee it. Also if you have access to a pool, swim laps to burn your calories, swimming gets amazing results. As far as general health goes you should try Yoga. It has done wonders for me not necessarily for weight loss, but for overall feeling of well-being.

I consider Rosie youthful. human beings have instructed me that to positioned on ankle weights motives knee problems. they have their place (although very constrained) place in well being, yet i does no longer make it a habit. by way of donning them, you migth strengthen your legs a splash and burn some further energy, yet i'm uncertain if it may be significant. it may be like asking a bodybuilding to do a pair hundred bicep curls with 2 pound weights. specific, he would be sore and burn some energy, yet he's not gonna have extensive biceps and probable have tendonitis to tutor for it.
