According to the book he wrote while he was serving his sentence in jail, he justified his killing of Gandhi. He wrote that he actually admired Gandhi since his childhood. He really appreciated Gandhi for the freedom moment. But he did not like one thing about Gandhi. When Pakistan wanted to divide from India for political benefits of a few leaders, although majority of people of the nation did not like it, Gandhi supported and eventually got the whole country divided into two.

That was not all. Jinnah wanted 50 thousand crore rupees from India for Pakistan's development (I'm not sure about the exact figure). Now this was something none from India liked but Gandhi again pressed for issuing the money and he succeeded. That crossed the limit of tolerance for Godse, and he took the decision to kill Gandhi. He killed, but he did not run away. He surrendered. Even after killing, Godse admired Gandhi for the other good things he did for the country.

I think people in India are misled by always showing them one side of the coin by certain politicians. Also, we have totally forgotten the real heroes (I don't mean Gandhi wasn't a hero, he was) who struggled a lot for independence and lost their lives.

there was a notion that Gandhi is a pro Muslim which was hurting the Hindu fundamentalists, before the independence there was there was so much differeces in Hindus and Muslims (people at that time proved that they won t be able to live together) so Gandhiji was t responsible for partition(even Gandhiji tried his best to avoid the partition by offering Jiannah the post of PM of India), Gandhiji always avoided the violence but during the Quit India movement they(Indian) tasted the violence and and the massacre during the partition was due to the quick transfer of power to Indians without deciding the proper land boundary which lead to a chaos among people as the people have to quickly shift from India to Pakistan and vice versa.

So Mr Godse might have killed Gandhiji for being pro muslim(as he assumed him to be) and might favour Muslims in future in independent India.

Godse does not want India's Partition and he belived that Gandhi ji is reponsible for breaking Hinu-Muslim unity. That's why he killed Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhiji considered Muslims request for a separate country and supported them. since Godse was from a background of RSS and he was pious Hindu fanatic he didn't like the bifurcation so he killed Gandhi.

To protect Muslims as a Minority , he went on agreeing whatever they say .

After the decline of power of Ali brothers , Mohammed Ali Jinnah who had

an ambition to create his own country , put forth the wish to have one .

And our Innocent Gandhi could not refuse it .

But the idea of forming a different nation on the basis of religion was so disastrous that

the no.of deaths was in lakhs .

He was a great person . He believed he could unite Hindus and Muslims like

he did in South Africa to get their human rights there . But he never would have thought

Muslim League will place this will to create a new nation .

The truth is gandhi was bad for the hindu nation, what happened was when muslims milled hindus gandhi used to tell hindus "no fight back muslims are our family" and so on, so in other words gandhi was telling hindus not to react and fight back muslims because gandhi wanted peace between hindus and muslims, but the problem there was muslims still kept on killing hindus because muslims can never be peaceful with non believers, so in essence gandhi was terrible example for hindus in india and was literally a hindu killer, gandhi was a muslim appeaser, so in other words when muslims kept killer hindus gandhi would tell the hindus not to fight back, so in other words more hindus kept dying, gandhi was the sort of man that if a hindu killed a muslim man gandhi would tell the hindu man to become a muslim and raise the man he killed islam, gandhi was peaceful but a terrible protector for hindus, in essence gandhi was a hindu killer, which is why godse got fed up.

He did mistake Gandhi as an anti Hindus.
