Why was the Red Cross Helping to Hide Terrorists?

Question: Why was the Red Cross Helping to Hide Hamas Terrorists for 18 MONTHS!?

[quote]

Israeli Security officials and police caught two Hamas legislators Monday who hid in a Red Cross building in Jerusalem for 18 months.

The two men, Khaled Abu Arfa and Mohammed Totah, are legislators wanted for “Hamas activities,” said police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld. They used the Red Cross facility as a hideout after warrants were issued for their arrest in July 2010.

The Red Cross did not explain its involvement in the use of the building by the fugitives, and its spokeswoman Cecilia Goin only stated, "I can confirm that they were arrested around 1:15 p.m. Police came into the compound and arrested them”

Their Jerusalem identification cards had been revoked and they were not permitted to be within the city. They escaped detection even though two other Hamas members who were with them previously were arrested and sent out of the capital.

The Red Cross building is located in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarreh, populated mostly by Arabs and a hotbed of terrorist activities, including brutal attacks on Jewish motorists.

Update 2:

@ Zvi, I know INN (A7) slants right, but then so do I. I have A7 as my homepage.

I wonder why they think they can tell the MDA to stop using their Red Star of David. I have stopped donating to the Red Cross due entirely to their anti-Israel bias.

Also, I loved "A Virtual Affair". I have down loaded "IMPLAC" (another of your stories). This will be my third of yours that I will have read.

The red cross history in regards to Jews and Israel is far from a proud one. Sadly, their condict has resulted in them being perceived as being anti-Semitic- while they allow the Red Crescent to be placed on their ambulances in Muslim countries, they refuse to allow Jews to use the a Red Magen David (Star of David) on abulances in Israel- tacitly stating that the symbol of Judaism is not good enough for them. Incidents like this just reinforce the impression that the organisation is anti-Israel as well, especially considering past incidents involving terrorists utilising their ambulances in attempts to infiltrate Israel.

    As for other sources:

Gotta love the way the ICRC takes an explicitly pro-Palestinian stance and states Israel has no rights in East Jerusalem!

The international Red Cross organizations are supposed to be scrupulously neutral, but there have been incidents in the past that call this neutrality into question. I don't think you'll ever get an answer to this question.

However, Arutz Sheva (Israel National News) has a clear right wing slant on a variety of topics, and may very well have left out some details. I haven't seen this in the J Post, Ynet, or HaAretz. Do you know if it was published elsewhere?

Red Cross collaboration with terrorists is a long tradition. In Lebanon, ambulances were used by terrorists for camouflage.

The CIA has been outsourcing many parts of it's operation. This is just the latest.
