What Rating Should I Set My Fanfic For?
I'm writing a Fullmetal Alchemist fanfiction called 'Habitual Mistake'. It is a very dark fic and I'm not sure whether I should set the rating for T or M. Basically it's dark because it deals with a little girl being kidnapped by people who are running a child prostitution ring and her father must go on a quest to find her before it's too late. I do not intend on writing any rape scenes so for the most part it is dark because of the storyline and subject matter. So should I set it as a T rated fic or an M rated fic?

I would go with the T rating. If you have no intention of writing any explicit scenes, M would not fit.

T should be fine.
Teens read books with dark material in high school without the books being considered Mature or too much.
