Infernal Affairs or The Departed. Which version of this film do you prefer?

Infernal Affairs (Hong Kong - 2002) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infernal_Affairs

and the remake

The Departed (USA - 2006) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Departed

MQ: Which version of this film did you prefer, and why?

I personally preferred Infernal Affairs, only for the reasons that I love Asian cinema, and having seen Infernal Affairs first, I knew what was going to happen in The Departed (taking away much of the excitement)

BQ: Favorite western remake of an Asian film?

Definitely Infernal Affairs. For me, The Departed seems uneven and choppy. I saw The Departed forst and still did not enjoy it.

Probably 'The Ring' The Japanese version doesn't explain the reason for 'the ring' i.e. the well closing on her, though some elements are were more interesting.

The Depahted was wicked cool. Shed light on a lesser known crime scene...loosley based on a true story...or two.
