Arabic is not that difficult. I have been studying the language casually for two years and can now have decent conversations now. I have tried many things but have found podcasts to be the most effective since they’re fun to listen to and convenient as they can be downloaded to any MP3 player. I highly recommend http://www.arabicpod.net,/ they have over 400 mp3 podcasts to download from, videos, apps and other cool stuff. All their beginner podcasts are free. Don’t give up!

It depends on the person. Some of my friends found it really easy to learn, and others completely failed out of the classes. Having another language under the belt may make learning easier. You could look online for free "classes" or guides.

Since Arabic uses a different alphabet and belongs to a different language family than English, it will probably be harder for you to learn than a language more closely related to English. However, if you have family members or friends to practice with, you can learn it more easily. Try your library for free books and CDs for beginning learners. See if there is a MeetUp group in your area where you can go practice for free. Good luck!

Well, it's very different, you write from right to left instead of left to right. It also has very different alphabets. Once you learn the basics, it's not that hard.
