Do you think that there is only one god no matter what different religions call him?

Update:

I think we all find our own path to god and no matter the name we give him his is one in the same.

No. Here is why: It would mean that God is a liar, setting all races at one another's throats, telling them that this or that "is utterly required," then telling others, "No , it's not."

There is no Religion like Christianity:

    . JOHN 14:10-12.

    10. "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?

the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself:

but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth The Works.

    11. "Believe me that I am in The Father, and The Father in me:

or else believe me for the very Works' sake.

    12. "Verily, verily, I say unto you,

    'He that believeth on me,

the works that I do shall he do also;'

    and greater works than these shall he do;

because I go unto my Father."

Jesus explicitly promised that his followers would not only be able to do what he did, but would be able to do greater works than he worked. Every other Religion says that none of its followers would ever attain the level of operation of their founders.

    . MATTHEW 11:2-11.

    2. Now when John had heard in the prison

the Works of Christ, he sent two of his Disciples,

    3. And said unto him,

"Art thou he that should come,

or do we look for another?"

    4. Jesus answered and said unto them,

"Go and shew John again those things

which ye do hear and see:

    5. "The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk,

the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear,

    the dead are raised up,

and the Poor have The Gospel preached to them.

    6. "And blessed is he,

whosoever shall not be offended in me."

    7. And as they departed, Jesus began to say

    unto the multitudes concerning John,

"What went ye out into the wilderness to see?

A reed shaken with the wind?

    8. "But what went ye out for to see?

A man clothed in soft raiment?

behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

    9. "But what went ye out for to see?

A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

    10. "For this is he, of whom it is written,

'Behold, I send My Messenger before thy face,

which shall prepare thy way before thee.'

    11. "Verily I say unto you,

'Among them that are born of women

there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist:

    notwithstanding he that is least

in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.' "

The most incredible thing about Christianity is how many millions of Christians refuse to aspire to the level of operation promised by Jesus, and instead try to reduce Christianity to the level of fake Religions which have no God Who cares for His worshipers.

I wonder if the "many different paths to the same god" stuff is part of the thinking process once one starts to notice flaws in their religion, but can't or doesn't want to let it go. Especially at the thought of good people being punished for happening to be a different religion. They know that doesn't add up, but don't take it further into looking at other religions or the possibility that it's all just nonsense.

Surprised by the number of atheist responses...seems like it's trendy to not believe in God.

I truly do believe that there is some sort of higher being, although I hesitate to even use the term "being" because of what it implies. The fact of the matter is, I don't think that we are capable of comprehending what this higher "being" is. Since the beginning of time we have fought each other over our interpretation of what this higher power is, yet nobody seems to acknowledge the possibility that we are not capable of comprehending it. If there is a God, there must be some sort of separation of knowledge.

No, each religion has their own individual "God". Even though many people think they maybe the same, there are many differences, There are also "Goddesses" and for some there are many Gods. It all depends on what you personally believe and feel convicted to.

Yes I do think that, there is only one True God :

"One body there is, and one spirit, even as YOU were called in the one hope to which YOU were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all [persons], who is over all and through all and in all" (Ephesians 4:4,5. Bible).

The Name of the True God is :

"I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory, neither my praise to graven images" (Isaiah 42:8. Bible).

Those that have the education and intellect to know the truth and live in reality know there are no such things as gods and do not waste life in the vain hope of getting another to waste like the religious!

God is eternal! God has always lived. He will always live. All people who live on the earth will grow old. All will die. But God can never grow old or die.

God is unchanging! Everything in this world changes. Governments change when nations become independent and new leaders replace old leaders. Ways of living change. Habits and customs of people change. The weather changes. Styles of clothing change. Even our bodies change as we grow older. But God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

God is all-knowing! God knows everything, for God sees every-thing. It is possible to hide things from the eyes of men, but nothing can be hidden from God.

God is all powerful! We human beings are weak. There are many things we do not have the strength to do. But God has all power. He can do anything. By His great power, God created the heavens and the earth. By His great power, God created man. We can trust the promises of God, for He has the power to fulfill them.

God is spirit! God is not a human being as you and I are. God does not have weaknesses and sicknesses of the body as you and I do. God is merciful! God loves us. Although He hates sin, He is merciful. He will forgive our sins if we truly repent (make up our minds to turn away from practicing sin and turn back to God).

NO! The Devil wants you to be confused and works to that end. Don't forget that the Devil is the author of confusion and doubt. He is the “father of lies.” The Devil wants you to believe a lie and be damned. False ways are advertised and publicized more than the true way.

"No man cometh unto the Father but by Me." By Jesus we come to our eternal home. We come by Christ, who said, "I am the door; by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture" (John 10:9). We come by Christ, who said, "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd giveth His life for the sheep" (John 10:11). We come b Christ, who said, "I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:25). We come by Christ, who said, "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness" (John 12:46). If will avail you nothing to stand and knock at Heaven's door if Jesus is not with you. He alone has the key to admit you to the presence of the Heavenly Father.

God is a Spirit without flesh and blood and invisible to man. In order to make Himself visible to man and in order to shed innocent blood for our sins, He had to put on flesh. Jesus is not another God or a part of God, but He is the God of the Old Testament robed in flesh. He is the Father; He is Jehovah who came in flesh to bridge the gap between man and God that man's sin had created. He put on flesh as a man puts on a coat.
