It is generally considered crass to give a picture of yourself as a gift.

No I wouldn't. Printed wash cloths are really lame, the colors fade so quickly on them, and the screen printing rubs off and leaves this gross residue on your skin. Giving a picture of yourself to someone as a gift in any form is not really a good idea. How about a photo blanket with a picture of the two of you kissing or cuddling on it? That would have a lot more meaning.

Sounds like a waste of money TBH. I'd rather have no gift than a gift for gifts' sake. It's cute, but probably costs a lot of money for something that is just "oh, funny" and nothing meaningful.
I'm Dutch though and Dutch folk typically do not think much of spending money on nonsense - maybe in whatever culture you're in, something like that would not be considered foolish.

lol... that'd be a little weird. plus, it would probably fade quickly with use and washing.
that's practical, but you could try to apply the picture idea to something else this person is interested in rather than a necessity like a wash cloth. really take some time to consider her hobbies and lifestyle to find something really personal. good luck

Giving a gift to someone of your own image is a bit conceited. But I have done it for effect. When I worked in an office, if there was someone there who was a thorn in my side, someone who hated me, on their birthday I would give them a framed picture of myself to open in front of everyone. One guy in the office who saw this happen, told me off good and proper and said I was up myself to have done that. This tirade alone was worth the cost of the frame, photo and wrapping paper and more!
I have handbags with pics of film stars on....Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. An ex of mine who still takes me out sometimes, begs me not to wear these bags while out with him because it is low class. I said YOU ARE FROM NEW ZEALAND, MATE, YOU CAN'T TALK and he said TOUCHE!!! I have found a shop that puts photos of your choice on handbags and I am going to put one of him on a handbag and take it out when we go somewhere nice. I told the ex that was before him what I was going to do and he laughed for ten minutes and had tears running down his face.
I would personally love a pic of a current boyfriend on a wash cloth. I would frame it and put it in the bathroom. And when I finished with him, I would unframe it and use it to wash certain parts.
I had a neighbour who hung his former wife's photo upside down on his toilet wall.
