My 11 week old was prescribed penicillin for an infection.....?
4 days into treatment he started to show signs of a severe allergic reaction. Luckily we were already on dexamthasone Intensol (oral steroid) to help with some airway swelling and inflammation. Unfortunately he is too young for Benedryl and the symptoms from the reaction are slowly improving but we still have a very prominent hives and rash. It has been about 8 days since we discontinued treatment and since he is so young he could only take the dexamthasone Intensol for 5 days due to the increase of more bacterial infections with prolonged use. I was wondering how long the rash/hives should last, I feel so sorry for the little guy!!

Antibiotics can stay in the system for some time. If it has been 8 days and he is not improving, you should call the doctor and tell him your child's continuing symptoms.
Your child may also be allergic to something else. Do you notice the rash more after he eats or drinks?
Are there any other medications you are giving your child?
Again, you should call your doctor if symptoms have continued more than a week and not improved.
