This is true…that's why they take breaks pretty frequently. I know magic kingdom in particular has underground tunnels that characters can walk through so that stitch, who would be in tomorrowland, isn't walking through the jungle in adventureland where he doesn't really belong. Disney takes their characters seriously…hahaha

Characters can not speak. They can make a kissing noise and Pluto is allowed to make a slurping noise. If a performer is on stage and having any issues such as they are feeling sick or whatever reason they have signals they can give the character attendants to let them know they need to leave or if they really need to they can just walk off set.

I honestly do not know what would happen if a performer took the head off on stage. This just would not happen. Character performers take the job extremely serious. When they put on the costume they are not playing the character they ARE the character. This is why you hear character performers talk about being a friend of goofy or whoever they play.

Often you will find that performers will not talk even backstage as long as they are in costume.

There have been accidents where heads have fallen off but I know for a fact those performers where not fired.

All Disney Cast member and even ex Disney Cast members usually love Disney and Disney Magic so we all take preserving it very seriously.

Yes. Characters are not even allowed to speak. Disney takes their "MAGIC" very seriously and wants kids to really enjoy the experience. Characters do take frequent breaks, but are still enclosed inside that hot costume while out and about with the tourists and paying guests.

Correct. All uniformed/costumed cast members are required to always be in full uniform whenever they are "On Stage" (within guest view... i.e. not in a backstage area or utilidor).

as a disney character taking off your head would be extremely inappropriate so YES i'm sure they would certainly fire anyone who did it. unless it was like a medical emerency or something.
